Tillerson joined The Exxon Company in 1975 as a production engineer.[10]

In 1989, Tillerson became general manager of the central production division of Exxon USA.[10]

In 1995, he became president of Exxon Yemen Inc. and Esso Exploration and Production Khorat Inc.[10]

In 1998, he became a vice president of Exxon Ventures (CIS) and president of Exxon Neftegas Limited with responsibility for Exxon's holdings in Russia and the Caspian Sea. In 1999, with the merger of Exxon and Mobil, he was named Executive Vice President of ExxonMobil Development Company. [10]

In 2004, he became president and director of Exxon Mobil.[10]

On January 1, 2006, Tillerson was elected chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), following the retirement of Lee Raymond.[10]

That sounds appealing on some levels.

Also, he hates sanctions because of who they really effect (hint, consumers) . Also, he knows Russia, and doesn't want war and conflict with them. That is a positive change from the last 50 years.

I like the pick, but I'm bo expert.

your current secretary of state was not CEO of one of the biggest companies on earth, and wasn't even the most successful person in his household, that would be his wife. We got somone who isnt a lifelong scumbag err politician and he has great relations with russia and china who our current administration has alienated.

He's DRAINING THE SWAMP

All of this is spot on. He is not even a typical CEO. As leader of Exxon, he personally knows the leaders of many nations and has good experience negotiating land rights, trade agreements, etc. with them. He's a good pick and FAR better than your typical politician.

You don't build up Rex by tearing down John Kerry. I don't care about John Kerry.

Not a lot of experience

So basically the only thing the guy knows how to do is to work for Exxon.
