The White House is expected to release the text of a new deal on Tuesday that would give states the power to opt out of certain Obamacare insurance mandates, in a major attempt to revive Obamacare repeal as early as this week.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., chairman of the Freedom Caucus, told reporters after meeting with Vice President Pence and White House officials that he expects the text of the new compromise on Tuesday.

The compromise would allow states to opt out of forcing insurers to cover 10 essential health benefits in plans, including maternity care and hospitalization. The states could also opt out of forcing insurers to comply with a community rating mandate, which today requires them to offer the same rate to an entire geographic area, and bars them from charging sicker people much more.

But the states would have to get a waiver to opt out of either regulation, and it remains unclear what that waiver would entail.

Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., said earlier Monday that states would have to attest that they won't reduce coverage in order to get the waiver.

Wonder if this has much to do with Trump's meeting with Rand?

Sounds like Rand probably had a good round yesterday.

Regardless of what he shot.

PS - Would love to know what kind of mood Ryan is in right now, though. Seems Like Rand & Ryan are never happy at the same time.

PS - I want competition across state lines. They better have that.

The waivable mandates would include EHBs and community rating, but not preexisting conditions or age 26 dependent coverage, per Meadows.
Sounds like the Freedom Caucus caved

????? What?

Dog and pony show.

I suspect it'll be the same income redistribution scam, just a different method of getting there.

I'd like to know what, exactly, will be changed (if anything) and to what extent, and how many people will still be getting it free or nearly so while the rest pay more and more and more.

Damnit.

eta: and by "free" I mean at the expense of the people who pay for their own.

Well it is more complex than just giving away shite, which cm to think of it is the dems answer to everything, as long as it is someone else's money.

Do they have to opt out if EHB wholesale or can they modify it?

Like keep hospitalization but not drug rehab? Or keep maternity complications but not routine maternity expenses?
