I have a question about Texas... are they counting border security as part of receiving federal dollars?

Because the border is the federal government's job.

Tell the Feds that we will keep all of the proceeds from our offshore drilling.

ok so not only would that solve our perpetual budget crisis but it also allows us to be completely independent of the Feds. So easy.

How can arizona be number 11, but nevada number 47, despite the states being nearly identical in almost every factor?

This graph has to be wrong. How can arizona be number 11, but nevada number 47, despite the states being nearly identical in almost every factor?

How can montana be a mooch but north dakota not be?

For NV my first guess would be casinos. I'm sure they generate insane tax revenues.

States like TN, Montanna, Wyoming, S Dakota, AZ, etc...that are being questioned, have large Federal Parks, Federal land, military and other big Federal Gov projects.

It may be the federal government's job, but Texas shoulders a substantial amount of that financial burden.

From the Final 2016-17 Texas State Budget:
quote:

Border Security $800 MILLION

The state’s GOP leadership named border security a high priority this session, largely because of the influx of undocumented immigrants from Central America who came to the Rio Grande Valley last summer. But the two chambers were about $300 million apart. They ultimately settled on a $800 million package, with $750 million going to the Department of Public Safety. Much of the funding will go toward paying for a 50-hour work week for all DPS troopers, adding 250 additional DPS troopers to the border and keeping the Texas National Guard on the job while those units are trained.

Maybe do some independent research instead of assuming it's "fake."

I'd be happy to tear out the welfare state by its roots and get those percentages down with the quickness.

Just shows how people vote against their best interests or actually don't know what they are voting for.

Sure and overall whites are the largest welfare drain but they are also the largest % of the population.

But...

quote:

An appendix to the report includes some startling information on welfare use by race and ethnicity. In 2012, the most recent year for which figures are available, the percentages of each group that used at least one welfare program were as follow:

quote:

One in three food stamp households is headed by an African American. More than a third of food stamp benefits — over $10 billion per year — are issued to African-Americans. (According to Census data, African Americans make up about 12 percent of the U.S. population.)

Nearly 9 million African Americans receive food stamps each month. This represents a quarter of the African American population.

African Americans who qualify for food stamps are more likely to participate than other groups (73 percent participation rate, compared to 60 percent overall). Nonetheless, according to USDA, almost 3 million African Americans who are eligible for food stamps are missing out on benefits.

So again....states with the larger minority population will use more federal dollars because minorities are more likely to use welfare more than any other race.

Well if minorities are Democrats and aren't voting Republican anyway.. why do these Republican states allow for such a large percentage of Federal dollars????
