Trump admin not saying anything. Republicans stand united for massive intrusion into our privacy.

This board seems awful quiet about it. Small government folks should be furious.

Where is the outrage for traffic cameras?

I'm stunned that vandals aren't destroying them every single night.

When traffic cameras weren't regularly vandalized our privacy became doomed.

I hate it. Can't say I'm outraged though.

I don't watch kiddie porn, so nothing to worry about for me.

Can we get a breakdown of exactly what it does compared to what it was before? Haven't had a chance to read up and get outraged.

Apparently, service providers can sell your information now, to include your internet search and browser history.

They've always been able to. Along with Google, Facebook, and virtually every other goddamn website on the internet.

Yup. I'd expect nothing less from the Obama administration crafting regulations that give a market advantage to certain companies (Google, Amazon, Facebook) and not others (ISPs)

Democrat 101.

This must really piss off Google, since the ISP's potentially have more complete data to sell than Google does.

People are acting like these privacy rules have been around forever, when in fact, Obama signed the Executive Order in October and they weren't even scheduled to be effective til later this year. So nothing changes from the status quo by killing this EO.

The FCC passed the privacy rules in October under the Obama administration, and they were due take effect later this year. They would have barred internet service providers — such as Comcast, Verizon, or AT&T — from selling customers’ sensitive information to advertisers without their explicit permission.

Republicans across the board — on the FCC and in Congress — have insisted that the rules unfairly target internet service providers, burdening them with extra regulations that other online companies don’t have to follow.

For example, search engines and social media sites, such as Google and Facebook, are regulated by less stringent Federal Trade Commission regulations, which don’t require companies get users’ permission to collect and sell data. This is why, when on those sites, users frequently sees ads for products for which they’ve previously searched, or for local businesses.

Google's 427 visits to the Obama White House must have paid off.

I'd be in favor of having both ISP's and Google/Facebook type sites requiring customers to opt in to share personal data, but you can bet Google/Facebook would scream bloody murder at that.

Exactly. I actually like the FCC rules. What I don't like is Google getting a goddamn free pass on them because they bought off the right politicians.

Google gathers up far, FAR more data then all the ISPs combined. Like I've said ad nauseum, HTTPS really fricks the ISPs ability to market data.

Where have you dem's been for the past 8 years? With your heads up your asses? Seriously.

Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, etc, etc, etc, have been selling your information, browsing history, internet searches, and pretty much everything you do on the internet for a long time.
