It became more important as soon as white people started feeling guilty for what their parents and grandparents and great grandparents did.

Great question since race is out of our control as it's something you're born with, while thought can be voluntarily changed.

This . . . LBJ's "great society" and the establishment of the welfare state helped subsidize entire races. Then, just like Communism, when it didn't work they doubled down on the lie.

Haha that is contradictory. You're just bashing people that you disagree with.

It became important when religious texts equated white people to literally being sons of Satan that need to be exterminated.

I'm fairly certain he was making a point about using race to gain power and keep it. You're the one that seems unable to grasp that.

Schools as well. The LSAT/MCAT/GMAT scores that minorities have to get to get into average or better schools is embarrassing.

There was a thread showing the matriculation statistics of medical students by race. It was so blatantly obvious that there was a lower standard for black applicants. Even Toddy was outraged by it.

Not just lower....but MUCH lower standards.

I get the argument that we need more doctors to service black neighborhoods, but why exactly do we accept students that are not prepared or have a much greater chance of burning out and wasting their slot?

When I was in college, I was having an discussion/argument with this girl about affirmative action quotas for med school. She was all for the quotas and even went as far as saying it was OK since they'll just be general doctors and not go into specialist fields. She was ok with having qualified white males get passed up for med school selection.
Now the worst part. I was arguing due to fact that my good friend had been passed up 2 years but on his 3rd year he got into med school. The kicker was the guy WAS her fiancé.

I've always thought the diversity lauding people are the absolute most racist of all.

How demeaning it must be to be told by those that supposedly support and love you that you only think and act a specific way or should only think and act a specific way because of the skin tone created by the two people that had sex and created you.

America is the land of freedom and I refuse to believe that humans are incapable of independent thought, the ability to criticize and have rational beliefs that aren't predisposed due only to the color of their skin or the demographic group they fall into or their sexual preferences.

There are so many people I grew up with in very similar circumstances with many of the same shared experiences and we all think very differently and very different opinions. We all grew up in a bubble going to the same schools, same church, first job in the same grocery store as teens, etc.

The diversity needed is in the minds, hearts and souls and you can find a great variance of thought among all races I believe. Although I suspects it is becoming harder and harder to find as the urban schools have become a generational disaster, there are generations of those that grew up learning to depend on gov't checks and handouts instead of working and being pissed about it instead of appreciative.

If I were a minority I'd spit hellfire and brimstone on anyone that suggested that I'm only a certain way because of my skintone. I have more faith in people and love for them than these diversity champions could ever have in their racist bones.

I mean, on some level diversity of ethnicity/culture is pretty cool. I'm lucky to work in the most diverse field as far as affluent professions go. I find having friends/colleagues who come from all over the world and getting to learn about their lives and culture fascinating. I am truly sad for people who live their whole lives at arms length from those not like them.

That being said, I would never want to work with a doctor who was less intelligent or skilled just because they add to diversity.

A white person living in a trailer park will have much more in common with a black person living in a trailer park than a black investment banker from Manhattan.

It's only people like you who think color signifies difference.

when liberals cynically decided that race was the best rhetorical club they could find to bully their opposition and hide the shittiness of their ideas
