I told y'all tariffs would pay for the wall. Mexico will be begging to pay for the $40B wall once rather than pay $20B a year.

The U.S. consumer buys over 80% of Mexican exports. So if tariffs are imposed on Mexican imports then the U.S. consumer will pay for the majority of the wall. Luckily, Trump doesn't have the power to impose tariffs without Congress. Hopefully, this Congress is a little more understanding than Trump on how tariff costs are passed along.

Some Chevy Silverados and Ram pick ups. Most are made in US and Canada.

Aren't you assuming that the American consumer will continue to purchase Mexican products? Aren't you also assuming that if Americans cut their consumption of Mexican goods by just half that Mexico will say, "ah frick it. We're good with shite canning 40% of our economy."?

Nobody said MAGA was gonna be easy, motherfrickers. Gonna have to trade that Corona in for a good ol budweiser.

Why has no one mentioned the hypocrisy from the left in this situation. They are quick to say we need to fix our problems in the state and country by raising taxes on the big bad corporations. Now the President wants and import tariff and all of the sudden those taxes will be passed on to the consumer because corporations don't pay taxes. This is typical left wing hypocrisy. They say what they need when it is convenient for them!

The top export destinations of Mexico are the United States ($291B), Canada ($24.5B), China ($7.89B), Spain ($6.18B) and Brazil ($5.35B). The top import origins are the United States ($194B), China ($58.7B), Japan ($15.8B), South Korea ($13.4B) and Germany ($12.8B).

And this is why they will have to play ball. 24 billion or a lost 294 billion annuity plus hampered remittances -

Pretty hard to argue strawberries raising to 3.60 a pound over 3.00 really is equivalent.

Don't count it. At this point, they won't agree to pay, just on principle. This is not a culture that prides itself on wise decisions and long term planning. Elements of ghetto culture where the most alpha move prevails might be too strong to overcome the long term financial wisdom of it.

Mexico will not agree to direct payment for a wall. The US will have to rely on indirect forms that tax commerce.

Anyone care to wager on it? I'm willing to send nudez if I lose.
