Why now?

Investigations into Russia?

Not going after Hillary?

Something else?

- Probably wanted to move on from Comey in the first place, mostly because he didn't go after Hillary hard enough

- Probably upset Comey wouldn't end the Russia probe

- Probably upset Comey wasn't as concerned with the leaking

Things I don't think Trump cared about at all: Professionalism at the FBI, not releasing negative information on the subject of a closing investigation

He didn't follow the chain of command and usurped the prosecuting power of the AG. That is a very dangerous precedent to set for future FBI directors

He was full of his own hubris.

An FBI director should operate quietly and apolitically and never seek the spotlight.

He let Rosenstein in on information of the investigation being intensified. Rosenstein is anything but professional.

Guy turned the FBI into an absolute dog and pony show. These last two hearings were particularly bad. Blithering idiot up there with no rhyme or reason to what he could or couldn't answer.

It's pretty simple. Comey wouldn't bend the knee. Trump values loyalty over anything else including competency. Trump wanted Comey to put an end to the Russian stuff. Comey refused. Comey is fired.

Word is he's having trouble with McMaster not wanting to bend the knee either. I expect his tenure to be short also.

Comey asked for more resources to ramp up the investigation.

I'm hearing that the real reason President Trump fired Comey is because Comey usurped the power of the AG when he made the decision not to indict Hillary and made the announcement without going through the DOJ first.

Then when President Trump asked Comey to admit his mistake, Comey refused to do so.

He was using intel as a political game

-Had the goods on Hillary, but doesn't interview her or put her under oath. Didn't recommend charges
-Lynch met with Bill. So he lays out Hillary's misdeeds to the world
-Finds out Huma may have kept emails that would screw his decision over. releases letter to Congress
-Hillary maintains big lead in polls. works overtime to go thru Weiner laptop, and clears Hillary again
-Trump wins. He hangs him out to dry with basically zero on Trump
-Evidence comes forward on Obama tapping Republican candidates. Thwarts the investigation
-Leaks sprout everywhere. Slow walks docs to the committees to find leakers

He got too cute by half, and as soon as Trump had Comey's boss in place. BOOM!

He was incompetent and this isn't a left/right issue. He foiled everything he touched.

Seems he wanted use his office as a token in the game.

He kinda didn't have a choice once the AG decided to have a secret meeting with Bill on a runway.

Because as I said yesterday, Comey has been awful.
He has been inconsistent. He seems to have made up rules as he went, IAW whatever his personal agenda was.

He should have been fired after issuing repeated special exceptions, and blowing subpoenas out his arse in the Clinton investigation.

He should have been fired in July when he took on role of investigator, Judge, jury, and pardoner in attempting to close down the investigation.

But at that point, his willingness toward partisan support of the Administration precluded a dishonest DOJ from taking action.

He should have been fired when he proclaimed with 100% certainty the Russians hacked a DNC server which neither he, nor the FBI were ever allowed to lay eyes or hands on.

Comey should then have been fired in October when he reopened an investigation which never should have been closed.

and . . . of course . . .

Comey should have been fired yesterday after making demonstrably false statements to Congress this week.

Comey was unforgivably guilty of selective revelations during public testimony. He took liberty to draw premature conclusions and announce those in some circumstances, and refuse to release them in other instances.

If there is ANY truth to Trump's statement that Comey privately noted 3 times to Trump that DJT, POTUS, was not under investigation, then Comey's refusal to state that fact publicly, in and of itself, is grounds for dismissal IMO.

If Comey had done that, Mrs Clinton would be the president right now.

Trump should cast a bronze in Comey's honor.
