This country's borders have been open since its existence. There are more horrible atrocities happening around us in our own demographic every single day, than the issue of immigration.
If they are legit, tax paying citizens, I could care less.
Preaching to the choir, corch. I'm more concerned with giving them a status (permanent resident or otherwise) and bringing them into the light as law-abiding tax payers than with mass deportations or ideas about how to create the largest fortified border in the world.

The only thing that will stop it is a workable work visa policy...or as has been shown in the past a cratering of the US economy. As long as there is a demand for cheap dependable labor they're going to come.

I didn't say anyone would "stop trading" in retaliation. I said trade itself would be impacted by the complications inherent in moving goods through highly secured checkpoints/areas etc. We managed after 9/11, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be a palpable effect.

I think most people would like to be on good relations with our neighbor. We share a very long border and have many common geo-political interests. Pissing them off does nothing.
