I mean… to keep other presidents from using it as an election year tool.

I would like to see some restrictions placed on it so it can't be used as an election tool the guy sitting in power can use to lower gas prices at a whim.

good, empty it right to the last drop.

then let them explain why a thing meant for our national defense, is being wasted for no reason and not replaced.

One major hurricane in the gulf and you'll be singing a different tune. Shortsighted and stupid response.

So all oil production nationwide shuts down for 17 or more days if there is a hurricane?

Yeah that would be a shame if a group of some abled bodied men from I don’t know but say China would sneak over the border over last 2 years to possibly blow up infrastructures of petrochemical plants or pipelines since the Commander in Thief has sold off most of the SPR. That’s not a good place to be right?

Dude if the Chinese start blowing up all the refineries and petrochemical plants we'd have a lot bigger problems than the SPR levels

yeah. seems weird to panic that we will run out in 17 days instead of the usual 30 days.

Yeah, totally. In fact, let’s just drain that bad boy down to zero. What good is 17 days of oil supply anyway?

So what? Can you give me a scenario in which that would matter? We produce more oil than we can use. We need some imports to utilize all of our refineries, but not much.

We can slowly ramp up to the usual 30 or so days

Everyone in a panic about this is just a pussy looking for something to bitch about

All by design, none of this madness is some random coincidence to weaken the USA, we have been hijacked.

That looks pretty bad. I’d like to see a graph of other countries and their reserves to compare. I also hope we have secret reserves not reported in case shite really hit the fan.

Everything is going as planned. It’s just a matter of time before he has us in a war and we have no oil in the reserves and we gave our military’s amo to Ukraine who is fighting for all of our democracy

The current SPR level is 350,980,000
When Biden took off the SPR level was 634,967,000.

The SPR is down 44.7 percent since Biden to office

The SPR is roughly at the same level as in 1983

This is being done to try and force electric cars.

Biden is doing everything he can to "fix" that short of gluing his hands to a tarmac.

You’re either trolling, indoctrinated or straight ignorant, most likely a combination of all 3.

It would smarter to refill the reserves when gas cost $2 rather than $5.

Dude if the SPR hasn’t enough backup for military operations, which is the intended purpose of SPR, then they are not able to provide services. Having to scrape the sides of the caverns for tar won’t help now will it

absolutely. But you mean oil prices, not the refined end product gasoline.
