Where's Ice been lately? Hanging out on the admin board? He hasn't posted in several months now and we miss him. I always enjoyed reading his verbal castrating posts on SECr whenever I would see one.

Nah, I'm much more normal looking than that. I just liked the pic of the girl. She's smoking hot.

Not as hot as the lovely Mrs. L.A., of course.

I haven't posted on the SECr in almost a year and those miserable fricks on the SECr are already talking shite. That's why I stay away.

I'm gone. BHP & Vols, good talking to you. Y'all have my email. L.A. Nice meeting you.

I don't want Tdeucen starting his bullshite and the rest of them talking shite. It was fun, but my IRL is more important to me.

Night all.

I'm on page 234 on kindle. This is crazy. I need to sleep.

I should have waited until tomorrow.

My roommate is reading it now too.

trackfan "We Are Not Afraid: The Story of Goodman, Schwerner, Chaney and the Civil Rights BlackHelicopterPilot, this picture illustrates what made MLK and Mandela great. Both of them were New Testament Christians. They truly believed in forgiveness and letting bygones be bygones, rather than settling scores. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but as far I know, both Jews and Muslims believe in the Old Testament creed of an eye for an eye and tooth for tooth. Jews are still searching the globe to settle scores with old and decrepit prison guards who worked at low level positions in concentration camps 70 years ago, Muslims have similarly ancient, albeit legitimate, grievances that they're still trying to address. In South Africa, Mandela supported settling grievances with the Afrikaners with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, but I can't imagine either side in the Israeli-Arab conflict supporting such an idea.

Oh yes those Jews going around just kicking the shite out of everyone and picking fights. I agree with the statement of greatness of MLK, but Mandela was a Communist thug who went to jail for bombing government buildings. Saying he's a New Testament Christian is pushing it indeed. While under his influence the country was pursuing and killing exclusively due to race. The real Mandela is not at all what is paraded for the world to see, but in the process of dismantling apartheid destroyed one of the few successful countries on the continent. The abuses of apartheid were and still are matched head to head with those in power now, looking at the Boer government past and the now it would be easy to see what period you would wish to live. Let me say also putting Jews in the mix with Muslims and the ANC is patently false with no real appreciation for the facts of either scenario.

My old history professor in college went to high school in Meridian with one of the murderers. He said that the guy was definitely the type to beat you up and steal your lunch money.

LBJ was a deeply flawed man. But he did not flinch from doing the right thing when the right thing had to be done that summer.

I didn't realize there were folks still trying to defend apartheid in this day and age. Pathetic.

That pretty much sums him up. After JFK was assassinated, Richard Russell told his fellow segregationists in Congress, that they could have beaten him on civil rights, but ultimately, they weren't going to be able to beat LBJ on civil rights, because he understood power, and he wasn't afraid to use it.

On a positive note, this thread started out well L.A. From page two on... well, typical Poliboard.

Just downloaded the book on my Kindle app. Looking forward to enjoying it this coming weekend.

I was alive and very much aware of what was going on at the time. My class was the very first at my high school to become integrated (7 black students). Have to say that those kids were pretty brave at the time. At our 20th reunion some of them were present, including Darrell who was a really good guy with a great personality . . . and a thick skin because he was playfully called "snowball" by some of the white guys back in high school. He shrugged it off and everyone liked him. Unfortunately, not long after the reunion Darrell passed away from heart disease (as I recall).

I guess if you weren't actually present in a small southern town in the sixties, it may seem like those events are exaggerated or overblown. But the times were very real, indeed.

Kudos to L.A. for mentioning the book. I've never read it but plan to download.

Meh. It was on the iPhone kindle app. Each page is 15-17 lines.

But I finished it last night. Awesome book. Some parts were honestly hard to read. It's hard for me to fathom that people can be so evil, but I guess I'm naive. Thanks for the recommendation.

Happy 4th, L.A.
