Warren Buffett Selling $28.7 Billion in Stock Rings Alarm Bell Over Economy

If nothing else, Warren Buffett is a renowned liberal who supports and is plugged into the DNC, albeit not a stupid man by any stretch, and so beyond the obvious economic conditions he sees before him, you have to wonder what he knows perhaps on the inside.
When devout liberals divest in their “strong economy” you know it’s bad.

Warren Buffett's firm Berkshire Hathaway sold $28.7 billion of stock in the first three quarters of 2023 in a move that some economists have interpreted as ringing alarm bells for the American economy.
According to the company's earnings, the Nebraska-based firm of the legendary investor and billionaire, known as the Oracle of Omaha, sold a net $10.4 billion of stock in the first quarter of the year. In the second quarter, it sold close to $13 billion of shares and bought less than $5 billion. In the third quarter, it sold about $5.3 billion worth of stocks.
As Buffett is considered one of the greatest investors of all time, as well as one of America's richest men, his moves are closely observed and analyzed.
quote:
"The money supply of the United States, broadly measured [M2], started contracting in July 2022, and has been falling like a stone," Hanke said. "Since last year, the U.S. money supply has contracted by 3.3 percent."
According to Hanke, there have been only four periods in U.S. history—in 1920-21, 1929-33, 1937-38 and 1948-49—in which the money supply has had significant contractions.
"Each of those four episodes was followed by a serious recession," he said. "The current monetary contraction is clearly going to lead to precisely what monetary contractions always lead to: a recession."

Yet he will still publicly tout Joe's policies, all while shorting the shite out of stocks.

He’s going to pay some epic taxes.

Has to happen.

These people don't pay taxes...they find ways around it. It is why they are Democrats

Full disclosure, so do Repubs. The difference is that they don't lie about it and or pretend to hate it

This board has been discussing this for about 2 years.

The real interest will be seeing where he puts that cash. Because, he’s not stupid enough to put that cash in the US dollar.

The "Economy" is already in decline, the STOCK MARKET does not wholly reflect the Economy. Endless money supply via the Fed Reserve is keeping the Stocks pumped with shite.

Correct that he’s not stupid. He buys US treasuries which is akin to showing confidence in the dollar
Would you have him buy crypto?

Doubtful. Buffett notoriously manages taxes. They will sell something at a loss to offset.

Oddly enough Warren B doesn’t believe in buying gold either as a holding. He’s stated many times that the infatuation of buying gold just to have to pay people to watch it doesn’t appeal to him

For every 1 ounce of gold that people pay other people to 'watch', there are 400 ounces in the market that does not require anyone to 'watch'. So, depends on which form Buffet (or anyone holding the asset) holds. For most, 'watching' cost is zero.

Buffett is making money if the market goes up OR down.

Not in the Great Recession, He went begging/threatening/bribing Congress to bail his arse out.
Still a great investor, but he gets insider information.. good to follow him just for that reason.

He sees a major dip coming and is likely trying to lock in his gains to buy his next target for peanuts.

Getting cash ready to buy up all the distressed commercial buildings

If you're interested in why he is doing what he is doing you might be best served to listen to what he is saying about it.

I have been hearing about widespread collapsing of banks and our economy crashing for the last 2.5 years. If it's not all bullshite then what is propping it up?
