Was just coming to post this!

FOX Link

quote:

“I keep hearing, ‘This is a classic, This is a classic,’ … I understand this is a literature classic. But at some point, I feel that children will not — or do not — truly get the classic part — the literature part, which I’m not disputing,” she told a school board meeting in November. “This is great literature. But there are racial slurs in there and offensive wording that you can’t get past that.”

The majority of our kids won't be able to read it in 10 years anyways. Schools have quit assigning reading homework because it is to mean. Poor kids parents won't work with them at home so we have to stop.

They should burn all of those offensive books in the town square.

It's a temporary ban while the complaint is being reviewed. Hopefully common sense prevails and stomps this ignorant shite out. Banning books is never ok

As much as some people/universities/govt's want to wipe out history that isn't agreeable with them, why is it I have to be subjected to at least 2 slave movies per year and at least 5 Nazi movies per year? Every year the same crap, slaves and Nazis. So which is it? They want us to forget (burn the books) or they want us to remember (make more movies)?

My wife is a 6 grade math teacher and it's sad that many of her kids struggle, not because they don't know the math, but because they can't adequately read the question. They'll get every straight-forward 2+2=4 question right (just using it as an example, she's not teaching 2+2 in 6 grade), but then miss every single word problem where they have to read a short sentence or two and set up the problem themselves.

Hmmm...

Wonder if the protest included any volumes written by the likes of Toni Morrison, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Amiri Baraka, Cornell West, et al..

Prolly not becasue it's OK to use racial slurs or promote antisemitism and racism if you are black?

I'm actually kind of surprised that this happened in that county. It's pretty rural on the Delmarva peninsula. However, for now, it's just a temp ban while the board meets on the matter.

The book could be placed back on the shelves.

The snowflakes could just pass it over and instead turn on some vile rap music.

The dumbest fricking thing is have they not read To Kill a Mockingbird? It is an attack on racism. Gotdamn snowflakes, this is why we can have nice things.

Typical liberal knee-jerk reaction..revisionist history. What they can't apologize or compensate for, they simply want to erase it from America's history.

I doubt the school board is going to allow this to happen permanently unless that area of VA has turned into complete liberal shite which I don't think is even possible there.
