Really?

USA TODAY ID'ed 4,500 Trump golf-club members through social media & a website golfers use to track handicaps, then researched who they were https://t.co/5ExoctJrnS

You're kinda creepy tbh. https://t.co/xwvUgDwxJy

I hold in my hand a list of 4,500 known members of the Golfinist Partyhttps://t.co/5jpjYciDmO

For anyone who says hey that's what you get for making info public, I hope, from the bottom of my soul shaped cavity, someone does it to you

What a pointless, and plain stupid, thing to "research."

No shame... this is what they call hard-hitting investigative journalism?

I'm MAGA as frick but I think this is fair journalism. We wanted to know this information about the Clinton Foundation.

I'm willing to be convinced that I'm wrong though. Is the main objection that this is coming from a supposedly "neutral" news service like USA Today who we all know wouldn't report this information (if they could get it) about Clinton Foundation?

What do they have to do with Trump besides being a member of a club he owns? They could have voted HRC for all people know.

Well they tie it together by pointing out how many CEO's of government held contracts played golf on the same days that Trump did. That's a pretty strong tie to crony capitalism, which we all should abhor.

I agree that many of them probably voted for HRC. That's kind of the point in some respects. They don't like Trump they just want to further their access and their investments.

The Clinton Foundation was used as a front to sell influence in our government.

These are people who play golf at Trump course.

Not a legit comparison. These a private citizens using a golf course, not donating to a charity.

I don't see how Trump raising the prices to Mar a Lago and his other courses by over 100% since his election is much better than the Clintons selling influence.

Look we all knew this was going to happen when we chose to support Trump. I'm only saying it's a legit thing for the media to cover. Just as I wish they'd have covered it when it came to Clinton Foundation.

I support Trump very enthusiastically, but I don't mind him being checked on some things.

golf memberships and millions of dollars in charitable donations aren't the same thing. you would publish the newsworthy names...none of them are, so she's going with the entire list...to shame people.

membership is finite, charitable donations are not. a foundation is never at full capacity. also, I don't think his clubs are hurting for membership. he makes the money either way.

Decent points. I think it's only relevant if these people are punished by others because of this. I hope that doesn't happen.

Here's the article:

quote:

Dozens of lobbyists, contractors and others who make their living influencing the government pay President Trump’s companies for membership in his private golf clubs, a status that can put them in close contact with the president, a USA TODAY investigation found.

Members of the clubs Trump has visited most often as president — in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia — include at least 50 executives whose companies hold federal contracts and 21 lobbyists and trade group officials. Two-thirds played on one of the 58 days the president was there, according to scores they posted online.

Because membership lists at Trump’s clubs are secret, the public has until now been unable to assess the conflicts they could create. USA TODAY found the names of 4,500 members by reviewing social media and a public website golfers use to track their handicaps, then researched and contacted hundreds to determine whether they had business with the government.

quote:

Among Trump club members are top executives of defense contractors, a lobbyist for the South Korean government, a lawyer helping Saudi Arabia fight claims over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the leader of a pesticide trade group that sought successfully to persuade the Trump administration not to ban an insecticide government scientists linked to health risks.

I don't see that anyone was "doxxed". I think the thrust of the article is pretty clear and is standard investigative journalism.
