The Trump administration on Friday touted the delivery of the first-ever shipments of U.S. natural gas to northern Europe as a move that will help lessen the demand for Russian energy supplies.

quote:

U.S. LNG has begun arriving in Europe with some frequency, providing a diverse source of supply and ensuring energy security for Europe," Perry said. "Europe has been looking to the United States as a key potential source for energy diversification to decrease Russia's leverage as the region's dominant gas supplier."

quote:

The Trump administration has made approval of natural gas exports a key part of its energy and national security strategy. The U.S. is the world's top producer of oil and gas due to the fracking and shale energy boom. The Energy Department has direct authority over approving licenses for the multi-billion dollar LNG terminals required to ship the fuel abroad

More winning on a Friday.

Well, I personally can't stand the Trump and I'm sure there is some environmental reason I should be upset about this, but I'm not. Props where their deserved.

So let me get this straight. The supposed tool of the Russians has engineered to weaken them economically on the one product that they have an abundance of and can make money from.

No amount of bullets, bombs, or proxy wars will do more damage to Iran, Saudi Arabia, or Russia than a steady supply of cheap, American LNG to Western Europe. This is the cornerstone of Trump's detente strategy. We don't need to fight them militarily because LNG is our ace in the hole economically. If American shipped LNG is cheaper than pipelined natural gas from Russia, it's game over for the Russian economy.

The U.S. has more and cheaper natural gas than anyone else on earth. Europe has high natural gas prices. This will cause prices to fall for them and rise for us as it finally gives our glut of gas somewhere to go.

Sounds like a nice place to funnel some of that infrastructure money into.

Russia's biggest leverage over Europe is that the Ruskies control the only natural gas pipelines into Europe. During negotiations, especially with weaker Eastern Bloc countries, the Russians simply stall until the winter and threaten to cut off gas shipments to countries that oppose them until they get what they want. The gas is the sole export product still propping up Russia's economy.

If Europe can bypass Russia and get cheaper gas from the U.S., the Russian monopoly is over and their house of cards collapses. Even though Russia will still have that huge tank fleet threatening Eastern Europe, tanks cannot roll if you can't pay tank crews to drive them.

There are many in progress in Southwest Louisiana and Texas including Cameron LNG and Sasol in Lake Charles.

The roads and bridges to and from the terminals? Yes.

The pipelines to the terminals, the terminals themselves and the ships? The transportation companies will pay for that.

Just a related factoid. In the 1980s there was a big controversy about the whole concept of turning gas into liquid form for shipment. The argument was that if you had a ship filled with it while docked in NY harbor and someone lit a match it would create an explosion big enough to kill half the people in NYC.

If all the innuendo bullshite could be stopped from those opposing Trump with hatred, we could do more of this for this country. I tip my hat to you for realizing that just a bit.

That shite was going to happen no matter who was president.
