He's incorrect. Most passengers don't travel often, so don't have status with the airline. The premium seats are typically reserved for their frequent flyers and unavailable to book by anyone else. He's really tone deaf.

I agree with you what happened last month and his response was pretty bad. I guess I just hesitate to dismiss him altogether from one bad response. No big gripe. But on the internet...I'm pretty friecking smart.

They are not tone deaf at all, every airline has tried marketing extra room seats at some point and they all failed because the customer was not willing to pay for the space.

Delta is rediscovering this with economy comfort right now, the vast majority of miles flown in the class of service are free upgrades and Delta is losing money on them.

Ever wonder why legroom is not a searchable option on any of the websites including third party ticket sellers?

If people GAS then orbitz et all would do so as well.

I use the term moron lightly. I'm aware he is an intelligent man. Otherwise he wouldn't be CEO of the nation's 3rd largest airline.

Why it is not a searchable option is because it is easier to not have it as a searchable option.

This is why a passengers bill of rights is needed. To prevent bad service.

This is a no-brainer. There are a lot of idiots in this thread.

Who do you see enforcing this bill of rights?

The FAA and DOT. More likely the DOT. You get complaints? They fine you. That's how it works today for a lot of things in aviation.

I actually did a lot of work last year simulating wheelchair operations in airports. Huge DOT fines for too many wheelchair passenger complaints.

If you don't like the lack of legroom then drive.

Exactly. These seats all go to upgraded medallion members because nobody will pay the extra few dollars for the legroom. They want to be packed in the back of the bus to save a few bucks.

The Civil Aeronautics Board used to have powers of regulation. A minimum leg room requirement could be mandated.

The necessary act of commercial flying used to be more of a pleasure. It can be made so once again.

Three seconds after this happens the same pseudo-conservatives whining in this thread will be up in arms wailing about government regulation making air travel more expensive.

I know.

Much of life can be viewed like a pendulum. The pendulum has swung too far toward airline profit and away from passenger comfort (or safety).

It needs to be moved back more toward where it was.....for the good of commerce.

FWIW, Scott Kirby is UAL President, not CEO. Oscar Munoz is CEO. UAL is getting beaten by Delta. To enhance competition, they've chosen to increase routes rather than comfort. After the Dao incident, it's obviously a fine line. Unless kirby is talking about reclining pitch though, I'm not sure how a moderate pitch increase affects ability to seat more passengers.

SMDH.

Your "rights" are already there. You have the right to choose a different airline, pay for more benefit, or (when the issue is seat width) don't be a fat arse.

Your troll colors are really showing on this one.
