Nope, conservative media pointed out the boy was simply a fan of his team and wearing team colors, which the racist writer of the article purposely tried to distort by only showing one side of his face. Him being part Native American is only icing on the cake.

Obviously I'm on the kids side and have been blocked by racist Carron Phillips on X for quite a while (and several other Deadspin writers, for that matter).
I do think it's funny that people keep repeating that the chiefs team colors are "red and black" though. Black has never been a chiefs colour. My take is that the kid is a raiders fan too (he lives in Nevada and there's a pic of him with some raiders cheerleaders that were taken at this game). I

His black and red face paint is the war colors for the Chumash Tribe for which his family is in

I don’t know but the Covington high student with the Maga hat was a prime example of the media running with a story without all the facts to destroy a kid to sell papers. They paid big for it.

The main point of the story was a complete media fabrication: the kid was not in blackface.
That is the primary takeaway here.
That the kid appears to have American Indian ancestors simply adds an additional layer of irony since the kid was also accused of “cultural appropriation.”
