I feel like I'm taking crazy pills in this thread.

To say Bill was "schooled" is just plain dumb. Tucker asked a question without an answer and he knew that. It's why he asked it.

The distinction is that his entire show is about arguing with guests, not interviews. His goal is to win, not to solicit information.
In fairness to him, that's probably a major reason people tune in.

At the same time, you do reveal an issue with how that winning can be interpreted as it relates to the truth.

Oh, of course, if YOU hosted the show instead, it would be MUCH better.

Tuck should be hitting him with the recent story about the bogus data used by the scientists and the long list of scientists that wrote to the president saying that climate change is bogus.

Tuck should have hit him with the fact that the sun is hands down the biggest determinant of global weather, in particular solar storm activity. (mass coronal ejections)

I'm explaining why I'm not that into the show. Obviously it's popular. I mean, I'm watching it despite saying I don't like it all that much.

I know. But I think you bring up a great point about "winning" though.

It's nothing short of hysterical that most on this board idolize Carlson.

He gets a guest on his show and then looks up a gotcha or two on the guest and 5 esoteric articles that impeach the thing that Carlson bates the guest into saying. Of course the guest comes in blind and has no idea what angle Carlson is going to take on him.

Then if the guest even attempts to counter or as soon as the guest gets near making his point Carlson talks/yells over him or changes the subject to another one of his gotchas to throw the guy off his trend of thought.

Wow. Isn't that amazing? No. It's just smoke and mirrors.

And in fairness to Tucker, he can't do the format he wants to do AND win all the time AND have a variety of guests if we're going to hold him to the standard I advocate.

His competency is in government and politics. If we asked him to substantively argue global warming and other issues outside of his subject matter expertise, he couldn't win all the time. And he's the draw, so we want him to win.

Of course, I'd prefer he bring on an actual scientist and give him a tough but fair interview, but that doesn't get the viewers going.

So an actual scientist could tell him what the earths temp should be?

He does have a following...even on Youtube...its' "Tucker Carlson destroys XYZ."

I find he's pretty fair...he even says that a lot "I'm trying to be fair" and lets his guests sort of ramble on unlike O'Reilly.

He's not rude or abrasive. He does chuckle - but honestly, it's during the parts where his guests say absurd things.

There's no doubt he does invite wackos on - so its easy fodder. But if he was a terrible host, libs wouldn't keep coming on.

So this is what you've boiled the issue down to?

Hahah what kind of defense is that?

Bill claimed that the issue was settled but couldn't answer a simple question.

He claims to know for a fact that humans are causing global warming but then can't say how much warming we are responsible for or what things would be like without humans. Look, I am very nervous that we are changing the climate, but to say that the matter is settled is just silly... we can't even accurately predict the weather tomorrow, yet we claim that we know everything about global climate trends over millions of years??

Libs only go on Carlson who are past their prime or have been out of the limelight for a while and need a boost to try to get back in.

No, he doesn't play Wack-A-Mole on his guest like O'Reilly does, but O'Reilly usually has guests with at least half a brain.

And I hate the way Carlson laughs at his guests. And its not just when they say something stupid. He also does that when they say something that he doesn't have one of his pat prepared responses to.

Bill Nye did a lot of good though. He really got tons of kids interested in science. I do think he was a huge net good for the scientific community because of this.

Look at this clip from Larry Wilmore's show. Who do you hate more here: Bill or the panel?

I have no problem with Tucker manhandling people in subjects in which Tucker can truly go toe to toe with them on. I get the same joy out of him crushing SJWs as anyone else, but I do get bored with it.

To the extent he's going to have people like Nye on, and then just try to make them look stupid instead of undermining their belief in any real way, I'm not into it. So sure, I guess in those scenarios I'd rather him bring in a more competent liberal and approach the segment more as a probing interview than a set-em-up, knock-em-down thing.

Bill O is the best Fox has to offer at allowing credible guests to put up a decent fight, IMO. I like Tucker more than Bill, but I like how Bill handles guests and arguments more.

I've heard Nye discussing this and schooling people before. Sorry, but this board as a whole is not a reliable audience on whether Nye was schooled or not by Tucker. I highly doubt he would have any trouble citing studies on climate change.
