Trump tells London Times he'll start out trusting Merkel and Putin and "see how long that lasts." So Germany/Russia now on same footing!?

Jonathan Freedland ?@Freedland
Much to discuss in the Times' Trump interview, but one small thing. He refers to refugees who fled the slaughter in Syria as "illegals"
Garry Kasparov ?@Kasparov63
Every FP position Trump takes, starting from total ignorance around year ago, is on Putin's wish list. Brexit, Ukraine, NATO, EU, Merkel.
Bret Stephens ?@StephensWSJ
Trump calls NATO obsolete because it was designed many years ago. Like, eg, the US Constitution, 10 Commandments. LINK
40m40 minutes ago
Jesse Lehrich ?@JesseLehrich
whatever Putin has on Trump must be good.
this is Putin's dream – an America that abandons NATO & a fractured Europe. LINK …
Jeffrey Goldberg
4m4 minutes ago
Jeffrey Goldberg ?@JeffreyGoldberg
Noting that Trump is more critical of Angela Merkel, the leader of a treaty ally, than he has ever been of Vladimir Putin.

Hard to say how Trump's talking points on NATO, EU & Russia would be different if they were actually written by the Kremlin

News flash to Europe: Take care of your own crap for just once and stop expecting us to keep order.

Well one is a traitor to all of Europe and the other is not.

Can these people not see that it has nothing to do with allies or whatever. The problem is globalism and liberalism. Trump is fighting the greater enemy in those 2 things instead of leaders of nations. He is just attacking the real issue, not the ones people keep claiming are the threats.
Merkel and Europe are rotting from those 2 things. Russia isn't.
China is also profiting heavily from it. All of these things are the real issues.

Vlad looks out for the interests of the Russian people.
Merkel imports rape and crime and financial burden onto the German people.
Leftists are evil destructive scum.

Is this how this board works now? If Trump is mentioned in any form or fashion a thread has to be started? The only different replies to any of them are usually my sarcasm. The rest are #melt/etc
Josh, do you even realize how boring you have made this place? It's completely repetitive and before clicking everyone can predict the responses.

Some of them know, and are openly rooting for globalist destruction of the West. Goldberg is one of the ones that know.

You don't have to hang out here.

We should have listened to Washington
"The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is in extending our commercial relations to have as little political
connection as possible... Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of
any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rivalships, interest, humor, or caprice?... It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world."

Elections have consequences

How fast is he going lift sanctions on Russia? First month? First three months?

Sanction lifting depends on how long it takes Tillerson to craft an oil deal with Russia.
Buy Exxon stock.

Exxonmobil already has a multi-billion deal currently in place and Exxon owns more drilling rights in Russia than anyway else in the world (total acreage). But can't drill there right now because of sanctions.
