SIAP

MAGA

quote:

Trump's warning was one that Speaker Paul Ryan and the House GOP leadership badly wanted delivered to their rank-and file colleagues, many of whom are wary about or outright opposed to the GOP bill.

Trump entered the meeting to loud cheers. He started his remarks, then paused and said, "You guys don't mind if I go off script?"

"We have a chance to do something fantastic, to do something amazing," Trump told the lawmakers, according to sources in the room. Trump made the case that voters gave Republicans control of the White House and Congress to do just this.

Trump noted that previous attempts to repeal Obamacare weren't going to pass the Senate or be signed by President Barack Obama.

"I'm asking for your vote on Thursday," Trump said. Many of you came in on the pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare. I honestly think many of you will lose your seats in 2018 if you don't get this done."

Nothing incentivizes a politician like the possibility they may lose their job due to inaction.

This seem so harsh

compared to:

It'll be interesting to see how much influence he will continue to have over congress if his approval numbers stay in the tank. Also, the replacement bill is not popular among voters at all so voting for it may hurt your re-election chances more than it helps. Especially in swing districts.

The truth is almost all house members are from districts that the letter behind their name guarantees their job is safe until they decide to retire.

Trump is so unpopular at this point, they may be better off distancing themselves from Trumpcare.

More like repeal and lose your seat. If they repeal it and replace it with Ryan's crusty white dog turd they'll end up voted out anyway.

Repeal Obamacare and replace it with garbage that's not even popular among Conservatives...that's exactly what the Dems need to take back the numbers.

But the replacement bill isn't any good, and nobody really seems to like it once they learn about it.

Yeah, but not with a bill that will cost more and cover less Americans. This bill is for the super rich. Don't blindly follow it just because Trump is pushing it. Use your brain.

Agreed. I would much rather have found out that Trump said something more along the lines of "if you don't vote for repeal I'll run a campaign against your re-election" but when you get right down to it he's right and was actually down-playing voter sentiment by not being more strident in his statement.

Many voters that cast their votes for Trump did so with the belief that he would lead the charge for Repeal then Replace. Many also voted for the GOP Congress due to those members claiming the same stance. Those who balk may well not win re-election as enough voters now seem to be paying long enough to hold their members of Congress accountable during their next election.

He doesn't care what is in the bill, just so long as he can message it as a repeal and replacement of Obamacare. He doesn't even understand how the health insurance industry works.

This bill is for the "super rich?" You're a laughable buffoon. You do realize that this "cover less Americans" nonsense is due to people currently forced to purchase insurance who don't want to now being able to go back to they way they want to be, right? Please tell me you're not that daft.

Thank God Putin had POTUS MAGA elected, because we would all be fukkkd if racist bigots like you had your way.

You do realize that people who can't afford coverage without the subsidies and people who will lose coverage when the medicaid expansion is cut will lose coverage also.

People who can afford insurance but choose to not purchase are either super wealthy or super irresponsible.

Well when it creates massive coverage problems it's gonna be on him I guess, or i am sure somehow it will become Obama's fault.
