No doubt if Big Bird is so popular a private network will pick them up.

I suspect without government funding NPR will prosper as they have a lot of programming that would be valuable to providers. These local stations will be bought up for their licenses.

I can support it. The arts are important, but they do not fall within the preview of the federal government to finance.
