The Trump administration has denied ExxonMobil permission to bypass sanctions to drill for oil in Russia.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, in a statement Friday, said he consulted with President Trump on the decision.

Exxon had applied for a waiver from sanctions imposed by the Obama administration in a bid to resume its lucrative joint venture with Russian state oil giant PAO Rosneft.

THIS IS A BLATANT frickING LIE!

Tillerson has recused himself from all government matters involving Exxon. He also sold all his stock in the firm, and is placing the shares he would have received over the next decade into an independently managed trust.

But muh Russians, this can't be.

BRB, going to DU to figure out how to spin this.

/Democratic Spin

Exxon never REALLY wanted to drill in Russia.

Tillerson used his ties to get them to say they wanted to.

So Trump could deny it and deflect on the Russian ties stories.

Watch. This will happen.

Just get one of your foreign holdings to do the drilling, which is what Exxon will do.

Exxon is a global oil comapny, Russia has more oil than they can get out of the ground.
If its profitable for Exxon there will be a work around. Lots of good ol boys around Midland made millions in Iran. And yet the US did not do business with them because of sanctions.

Trump Jr said "Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia"

Plus the FBI admitted to an ongoing investigation of the Trump transition team. This is called "Heavy scrutiny". Say it with me "Heavy scrutiny". Good job.

Seems like Obama would have done something about them, then, instead of just drawing imaginary red lines in the sand.
