If there is a wall then Mexico, by definition, is paying for it. They lose billions without their illegal immigrants sending money back.

Did you REALLY think that Trump meant "I'm going to get a check from Mexico for the cost of the wall?" No, of course you don't believe that is what he meant.

And then he doubled down.

quote:

Asked at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, if he still wanted Mexico to pay for the wall, Trump said: "Absolutely."

Spin all you want, but Donnie promised it... literally. He wasn't joking and idiots bought it.

And you know why they bought it???

Zero chance they will admit they got bamboozled. This thread is full of Oscar worthy performances it seems. Trump has walked back on or lost on just about every campaign promise but the Trumpkins will never admit.

He wasn't going to make Mexico write a check. Very literal interpretation and many have taken this very literal. He intended to cut Mexico aid (which he had done), and rework nafta (in progress) to offset the costs. That is what it means.

Were Obama supporters ok with this?

Can we please stop with this argument? I think Obama was a shitty President as well, but I'm not going to lower the bar to Obama's shitty standard. Eisenhower and Truman are the gold standards for modern presidents, and those are who Trump should measure up to, not Obama.

There are many ways to get Mexico to "pay" for it, either by getting money directly from them or withholding money that would normally go to them.

That wall is already up in a practical sense. You just don't realize it.

If we have the money to tear down statues and resuscitate over dosed frequent flyer dope heads, surely we have the money to build a wall. If not borrow a few million from Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Fienstien, and McCain.

Why do liberals keep pretending like Mexico was going to cut a fricking check for this wall?

Why do we constantly have to have to have this debate on the 4th grade level with you?

I never cared about who's going to pay for it. I hardly even opined on it during the election. Mexico is going to pay for it?. Ok. The US taxpayer is going to pay for it? Ok.

I just want the wall built becuase I'm less OK with open borders and we need it to provide deterrence to future open borders Presidents that wants out of control and unchecked illegal immigration.

We are not paying for it - we are giving them a loan.

You're putting your faith in a walking dogshit stock who's underperformed the market for the last 30 years. "But but he's a great negotiator, he even said, 'Believe me!'"

Mexico is already paying for the wall by negotiating Nafta

are you implying that they wouldn't negotiate nafta otherwise?

If we renegotiate NAFTA and we charge Mexico more in taxes these companies will close and move to China. Where will these unemployed Mexicans work or what will they do for money.

This will cause more illegals
