National defense should be one of the few roles FedGov plays so this isn't about your snarky smaller government notion.

I'm all for cutting the FedGov down as far as possible in other areas though. National Defense is a keeper role however.

Trump isn't a conservative. Cruz was the conservative running. I do hope, he listens to some of his advisors though.

However, i agree with updating our military. Obama has decreased our navy to pre-WW2 era levels.

Correct. It's about feeding the Military Industrial Complex. Because Trump is so anti-establishment and all.

You have to know by now that no one takes you seriously, right?

Many of us have tried. It didn't work out. We've moved on.

You should get out into the community and proselytize in the real world. Forums are winning you converts. Let me know when and where your first meeting will be held. I'll need the coordinates to your bunker if it's there.

You're right, I just made up the Military Industrial Complex. It really doesn't exist. You caught me.

With President-elect Donald Trump demanding more ships, the Navy is proposing the biggest shipbuilding boom since the end of the Cold War to meet threats from a resurgent Russia and saber-rattling China.
Does this mean we can stop shitting our pants daily in fear of them Muzzies?

Just because he ran as a republican doesn't make him a conservative.

I'm no naval strategist but so I don't know the correct number or makeup of ships needed. But I lean towards having a large standing Navy and a very small army. The army preferably being mostly a national guard function. The Navy is hands down our most important branch. They take a long time to build so it needs to be ready day one in the case of a large conflict. Armies can be raised much quicker if need be. The good part about having a small standing army is that we'd be less inclined to get bogged down in pointless adventures that don't serve our national interest. The Navy, with the Marine corps being part of that, can handle brush fires and contingencies that pop up from time to time.

Well said.

If i had a dime for every time i heard "everything was on sale" Id still be broke....because everything is always on sale.

I used to counsel women thats husbands controlled them so much... that they were thrilled when you could use a debit card to get "cash back" paying for groceries. They were on a allowance ordered by husband-- and they would sneak money to get their hair done.

Naah. There were some dirtbag squids tho that would keep the entire paychecks for hookers and spade playing (gambling) while deployed. As water heaters broke at the homefront-- and babies needed Navy Relief to eat. It was sad.
