In fairness, Bill Clinton was pretty fricking palatable politically by today's standards back in 92 and no one is under the impression that Trump is a rock ribbed conservative.

However, these people are allegedly involved in criminal activities and should be investigated by an independent prosecutor. They're not just political opponents.

Tell that to William Jefferson, Rod Blagojevich, Chaka Fatah, Dennis Hastert, Jesse Jackson, Jr., Laura Richardson, Duke Cunningham, Wade Sanders, Darleen Druyun, Fred Richmond, and Michael Myers (he of "money talks and bullshite walks" fame).
Democrats don't understand. In the third world, you don't jail your political enemies, you kill them. You jail their followers. In the first world, you jail political criminals routinely. That's how real governments work. No one is above the law.
