Blackstone Group LP, the world’s biggest private equity manager, is eyeing more than $100 billion in infrastructure investments with a new strategy anchored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

PIF agreed to commit $20 billion to the pool, and Blackstone plans to raise the same amount from other investors, the New York-based asset manager said in a statement Saturday. With leverage, Blackstone expects to have more than $100 billion in purchasing power for infrastructure projects, primarily in the U.S.

Infrastructure investing has gained renewed attention as Trump’s administration vows to direct more private money toward improving roads, bridges and airports. The asset class also fits the bill for liability-driven investors in the U.S. and abroad seeking current income amid near-zero interest rates and negative yields elsewhere in fixed income.

yay more KSA leverage

listen, i'm not really shitting on Trump for this specifically, it applies to everyone

but celebration over being in bed with the Saudis on...everything...is short sighted.

what's worse is that anyone who pays attention knows it's short sighted, including our governmental actors, but we'll do it anyway

I don't disagree.

But KSA is going to buy the shite from somebody.

They got serious when Barry have Iran the green light and a checkbook.

And I appreciate the rebalancing argument

But regardless of where blame is apportioned, we're in effect just kicking the can down the road

Wake me up when you see this great infrastructure you are referring to.

Nevermind, don't, as I will never be awoken.

The day of reckoning is fast approaching midnight.

We shall see. There is a huge power shift in the ME in the making.

Let's see how it plays out. I'd much rather the goat humpers be killing each other than? sitting back and watching us get killed in their stead.

Trump seems to have a knack at getting people to look past differences and work on common interests and goals.

It'll be interesting.

So Saudi Arabi commits with a clause that relies on us government matches ...that's how most ksa deals are.

Us agrees but can't come up with matching funds bc Congress won't authorize or dems and mod republicans don't agree.

Ksa keeps materials and ownership of their property? Or is it for the U.S.?

Roads paid by ksa are owned by whom?

This is a very bad deal.

It might happen. There are libraries and university buildings and the like all over this country that were financed with Saudi dollars.

If Obama facilitated this it would have 2 upvotes and 20 downvotes

Hell, if Trump messed up this deal it would be touted the exact way you and I are warning against further Saudi influence.

That is all it does.

The Swamp is just musical chairs. Saudi's are apart of the swamp as much as DC.

That money, will never go towards infrastructure, ever.

You won't see anything new or great in terms of infrastructure in this nation--I guarantee that. Nothing. If you think for one moment that any of these men and women wish to put their money to helping the 'poor' or the 'people' you are f'ing insane.

If it is an investment there must be a return. There is no return for the Saudi's to invest in our infrastructure as it doesn't provide any monetary return. It is a public investment to provide better ability to work and live. Unless they tax the citizens (put up tolls) to return that cash or if there is a deal that gives the Saudi's something in return it is ridiculous to believe otherwise that this is a ruse like every other political talking point.

You will be paying for this infrastructure if it ever goes up. The Saudi's aren't spending a dime to pay for shite. It will be passed onto you and yours.

Like I said, if Trump tweeted this out, the board would be filled with the echoes from it

It's all about what one person decides to do on a given issue
