He's been gaining about 40k a day on average the past few months.
He's gained 200k and climbing in about 14 hours following the body slam.
It's also been liked over 400k times, his most liked tweet ever.

Obama was President for 8 years and active in Twitter long, long before Trump ever was. Not a fair comparison until Trump serves two full terms.

When Trump first announced that he was running for President, he was at 2 million followers and he's at 33.1 million now. He will be well past 40 million before the year is out that's roughly half the amount of followers Obama has.
He was at 20 million on inauguration day.
