Trump comments blow up Canada trade negotiations

I have zero problems with these comments
quote:
Trump has been trying to negotiate a new NAFTA with both trading partners. He announced Monday that he has secured a tentative deal with Mexico and said “we’ll see” if Canada can be part of the new agreement. The administration had set a deadline of Friday for a deal with Canada.
But The Toronto Star reports that it obtained comments from an off-the-record portion of an Oval Office interview between Trump and Bloomberg News. In those remarks, Trump said he isn’t making compromises with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, but isn’t going to say so publicly because “it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal.”
“Here’s the problem. If I say no, the answer’s no. If I say no, then you’re going to put that, and it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal ... I can’t kill these people,” he said of Trudeau’s government.
In another remark he did not want published, Trump said the deal would be “totally on our terms” and reportedly suggested he had tried to spook the Canadians with the threat of auto tariffs.
Oh no! Trump caught on hot mic putting America first!

I guess “off the record” is no longer means anything.

The media is truly the enemy of the American people.
There is no denying it.

Dragin those big nuts right over their faces

So the Toronto Star doesn't recognize journalistic principles?

This is exactly why he calls it "fake news". They aren't interested in the truth and they don't care about journalistic integrity. Their existence is to be the propaganda arm of the Deep State/Democrat party and to take down their enemies.

"Off the record" has never applied to powerful people.

Oh that John Barron! He just can't keep a secret!

Media doing their best to save their soy boy Justin. Like obama, he needs some extra help and support. Even if it’s at the expense of the American people.

No, someone at Bloomberg doesn't know what it means and shared it so it would become public.

Haha. I'm glad he's not backing off it.
Posted on 8/31/18 at 1:50 pm to CAD703X
too boot the remarks were off record but the progessive paper leaked them anyway.
Posted on 8/31/18 at 1:51 pm to CAD703X
So the media purposely leaked off the record comments to sabotage negotiations...once again we see the double standard of the press...no way they do that to Obama...
and frick Trudeau and his government...break it off in him...

Sounds like the Toronto Star knew they were off the record and still went ahead with it. The blames also lies with Bloomberg as well as they should not have documented in either print or spoken word what was discussed off the record.
