Five members of that panel, which decides committee assignments, told POLITICO that Gowdy would easily win a race for the job should another member challenge him.
If he does clinch the chairmanship, Gowdy would oversee the sensitive investigation into whether President Donald Trump pressured the FBI to drop a federal investigation of his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Gowdy went from hero to zero for me. Gave him a pass because he Holder/Lynch was the AG, but no interest in the AG or FBI director. All he want's to do is badger people ...that's it. Just a big grand stander, who puts on a hell of a show, but that's where it ends.

He is a good man, but this means nothing. They really need to shut down the dog and pony shows and actually legislate and do their jobs. It would conflict Mueller and be romper room.

I keep hearing this as a knock on Gowdy.
What can he do? It is up to the DOJ to take up their findings and actually DO something. Obama's DOJ was only interested in multi-sex bathrooms and protecting cop killers.
Wait until Sessions gets a finding by a Gowdy committee.

So in summary: an experienced bulldog who likes to put on public dog and pony shows that expose the corrupt. A target rich corrupt environment in DC. And a DOJ run under a president who wants some payback.
