Good article about Nola reporters working to shed light on healthcare cost inconsistencies and improve transparency, something badly needed if we are ever going to reduce healthcare costs.

As shitty as Senator Cassidy's healthcare bill was, I liked the part of up-front price transparency. Its absurd that the same procedure can be a $1,000+ difference right across the road.

I've never been more frustrated than when we were dealing with medical billing.

I don't know what needs to be done, but something definitely needs to change

I don't think price transparency should be a requirement. All it takes is an app or website similar to salary.com or zomato to gather prices for different procedures and providers so that people can shop. Once there is transparency, providers will compete to offer the lowest price for a certain quality service
