Gun confiscation is creepy and probably authoritarian, but you will definitely see a decline is shootings/mass shootings.

I foresee this one going before SCOTUS and getting smacked due to there being a severe lack of avenue for redress and it involving a Constitutional Amendment.

Criminals will get guns regardless. The problem is taking guns from people who could stop them

Sorry but Europe/Australia disagrees with you. In UK, only 14 people died of gunshot wounds last year.

To be fair, there are WAAAAY more guns already in circulation than there.

It would take a long, long, long time to reduce the availability of guns to an appreciable extent

No it wouldn't. You can ban gun production right now if you wanted to.

Obviously that would be a bad thing to do, but it would lead to a plummeting of guns.

Well of course it was lower in Europe and Australia, Guns are illegal. However what is the crime like in Europe and Australia that doesn't involve a firearm? Look up those stats and report back.

I'd rather be stabbed by a butter knife than shot.

and it is pretty hilarious when you look beyond their "gun violence" statistics

immediately after both countries passed gun bans, crime went up and their violent crime decreases at a lower rate than in the United States

you have to be an imbecile, in denial, or a dishonest agenda driven slimeball to be wowed by this stat.

Differences in population compared to the U.S., and you are referring to two islands as opposed to the size of the U.S. At one point, the UK was trying to ban pointy knives (not sure if this law passed though) because the crazy Brits started stabbing each other.

Plus, the Brits are used to being treated more like Subjects than citizens.

Can you? Not sure about that.

Anyway, the guns out in the public are vast. You'd immediately start a spike in home invasion as thugs look for now valuable weapons.

And, saaaay....if we can just BAN a thing...why don't we do that with drugs? JEEBUS. We can make them illegal and the production of them banned and there won't be any drugs!!!

Do you think that it is reasonable? Your "ban production" is never gonna happen. So, let's start with a reasonable position.

Link? The UK Office for national statistics says that there were 29 gun homicides in 2012-13 and 40 in 2011-12. However, did you know that England and Wales don't count homicides in which someone hasn't been convicted?
