re: Tiger Woods: I left California over tax rates too

Now we live in a country where you have to apologize for working hard and being successful. Why in the world would anyone demonize someone who is successful is beyond me.

Somehow, these guys actually have managed to frick up a political slam dunk. Some states have to kill themselves to figure out how to attract people. All California really needs to do is NOT frick it up. And yet, they do.

Yeah

That about sums it up. California has everything you could possibly want to attract people of all types and they manage to drive people away via ridiculous taxation and regulatory environment.

There is no reason they shouldn't be the economic capital of the western world. New York City should be an afterthought IMO

Yup. But, liberals ignore this. I don't know how they can look at themselves and take what they say seriously. Every liberal pipe dream has come to fruition in California. And when you point out what the liberal policies of Cali has done to the state, they just ignore.

Did I read somewhere that Phil's combined taxes would be around 60%

I'd hightail it out too if I was going to keep less than half of what I earned.

Yep. Those idiots are fricking bad at math.

They could set their tax rates at the lowest levels of any state in the union and they'd RAKE DOUGH IN like it was fricking raining money.

But the dumb fricks seem completely unaware that when computing tax revenues, there are TWO numbers in the equation!!!

Hollywood is the WORST of the WORST.
The limo libs in that industry vote for every fricking tax yet they go to other states and other nations to produce their films because they don't want to pay the taxes that they voted for. They lobbied hard in other states to get tax breaks for the "industry" to do work in those states yet they are the first to condemn the oil industry and want any of what they perceive to be a benefit given to the oil industry and want more taxes put on that industry. All the while, getting tax monies to produce films under the guise of it being "art" that is often used to condemn and ridicule those that do not think like they do. They are the people that really love for government to enforce those unconstitutional IRS laws on churches, believing pastors cannot speak out against anything they support, while they receive millions of dollars in the "fiscal cliff" deal.

Some states have done away with the income tax in lieu of higher property taxes. Some have lower sales taxes in exchange for higher property taxes. Having higher property taxes makes it "easier" to deduct federal, so some point to that as a good thing.

The problem with California and other Democratic utopias is that they tax everything to the f*cking maximum. They think people and companies will just stay because they agree with all the socialist bull shite.

But, people stop believing in this socialist bull shite when they find out that they are the ones who have to pay to keep Odumbf*ck voters happy and content on the government dole.

I have a friend from grad school whom I hadn't spoken to in a while. He was one of the many outspoken liberals in our class. I recently had lunch with him and I was surprised to learn that he couldn't stand Odumbf*ck and had become a republican. I asked what did it. He said that after he saw HOW MUCH they were taking out of his paycheck every two weeks and realized that he was the one paying for all this bullsh!t he pedaled in school, he converted. He finally realized that all of Odumbf*cks "FREE SH!T" isn't free -- someone has to pay for it. And that someone was him.

California is an excellent example of why liberals are pressing so hard to basically make the Federal govt look like California.

Liberals have figured out that simply running a state like that leaves you open to everyone leaving. So. They know they need to make it so the only escape is to leave the fricking country.

Liberals seem completely oblivious to the idea that if your policies are making people run away that the solution isn't to eliminate the places to run.

The difference between liberal thinking and that of the former East Germany is roughly nothing. Look at how France's leaders are acting about people leaving. I can guarantee you that if those frickers could figure out how to wall everyone in and prevent them from leaving, they'd fricking do it!!

I'm wondering the same thing. Apparently it is wrong to not want to pay taxes now.

is it wrong to take a job in another state that pays 10% more?

is it wrong to leave a state to pay 10% less in taxes?

Why would anyone want to live in California for that matter

Well, we have absolutely beautiful weather. In fact it's 80 fricking degrees here again today. It's January for crying out loud.
but seriously, lots of people I know are looking to leave California, myself included. Just have to find a job first. And that ain't the easiest thing to do right now.

re: Tiger Woods: I left California over tax rates too
Some people get angry hearing Phil and Tiger say they left California because their Tax rate is too high. This has been going on for years in California!!!!! Companies are leaving in droves and so are residents. Phil was reported to be paying around 60 percent of his earnings in taxes when adding them up....THAT'S UNREAL!!!! Fair Share???? Please someone explain how that is considered paying his fair share? That's stealing in my opinion. Let's say we all pay 20% flat rate... I make $10,000,000 and you make $60,000. I pay 2 million in taxes and you pay $12,000 in taxes. It would take you 166 years of paying taxes to reach 2 million and I paid that in one year. (Hypothetically of course... I wish I made that money.) HOW IS THAT PAYING THE SAME? I think we have it backwards.

re: Tiger Woods: I left California over tax rates too
I think the key is Phil said he was paying 60% no accountant could come up with any scenario where he actually would pay that much.

California maximum tax rate is about 10% and the federal rate was 35. There are a couple of other things but not another 15%.
