Democrats had a chance with expanded background checks but they ruined it whining about assault weapons IMO.

that's probably part of it.

it's not just the gun bill though, that was just the first example off the top of my head.

i'm not claiming causation. i'm curious what societal consequences you're referring to, when violent crime keeps falling

When someone loses a child or a parent because of someone who shouldn't have had a gun according to the letter of our already exists law had one anyway due to those NRA lobbying efforts, that's a social consequence to me.

He doesn't at all. I can see you're blinded by your hatred of him though, which is fine. I don't like him much either (outside of social issues) but some the far right wing rhetoric on him is just stupid.

Blinded by hatred, lol.

So predictable.

I can't rationally, as an intelligent, discerning person who has observed politics closely for 20 years offer an opinion on Obama being an incompetent, destructive ideologue because I am "blinded by hatred."

Nice try.

That tactic is so fricked out.

Do I think he's a train wreck because he is black too?

You are bad at debating.

you do realize the irony of throwing your support behind anecdotes with your arguments in this thread, right?

And like i said in the OP, if that's your agenda then that's fine. Just be open about it. Don't blame Obama.

for being the kind of shades of grey...or at least the prince, you certainly missed that it was what he meant

hence why he said we were a constitutional republic

if he used a different "tone" or whatever Paul Ryan or some other conservatives claim is complete bullshite. GOP congressmen in both the House and Senate have been stonewalling Obama since the day he was elected in 2008 and have ratcheted up the partisan rancor at every turn. Mitch McConnell instructed Republican Senators to "make a public show" of wanting work with Obama, but to block him at every turn. If that's what your strategy is, and you just want to be such a slave to your party that you refuse to do ANYTHING that could potentially be seen as a victory for Obama (broad bipartisan public support be damned) thats fine i guess, but don't go on tv and lie to everyone about your motives.

LOL, dumbest post on Poli board in years.

There was clearly an attempt to get republicans on board with the stimulus with tax cuts and spending well below want liberals wanted. I don't know enough about ACA negotiations to say much about any attempt at compromise, but both parties were miles apart with what they wanted to do with healthcare, and democrats went their way.

Blame him for the gridlock. At least not to the level that he is being blamed by the right.

You clearly support democracy.

Democracies always fail. History is littered with failed and always bankrupted democracies when the people figure out they can vote themselves money..

A constiutional republic is the only form of gov't that can truly sustain itself.

You think everyone on this board is bat shite insane anyway.

#1 Well as a matter of course I believe that what the American people think has a pretty big place at the table in non-rights based issues. Much moreso than he does.

#2 I wasn't just talking about what he posted here, I was taking his posting history on here into account.

Obama wouldn't comprehend the word "statesman" if someone used Round-Up to write into the 18th fairway of his favorite golf course.

That is why this thread is getting so much action.

People can't believe you are this stupid as to believe Obama wants to work with the Republicans.

Have you been in the Marianas Trench for five years?

It drives people nuts that someone could be so deluded.

I think I heard Boehner caving again after that post.

I'm not reading this entire piece of crap thread, when I know for a fact that the libtard media bait the RINOS into "common ground" to try to win middlers.

In all honesty, if you believe the shite you spew, how does Paul Ryan, a former so called conservative start to cave on ILLEGAL immigration? What a load of crap. The real Reagan conservatives in D.C. are only a handful. And yes they are trying to stop an Imperial President at every turn they feel the need.

Jesus Christ

I specifically said that he should have done things differently if he ever really had any intention of doing that in the first place, which I'm not convinced of. I don't know how i could make it any clearer that I am no friend of the President.

I'm not defending Obama here so much as I'm attacking congressional republicans, the only politicians out there more full of shite than he is.
