So this was posted on reddit yesterday and I wanted to get the polly boards take on it. The title was "This is what Democracy looks like" and my reply was " No, thats what it looks like when you politicize a tragedy." then the following argument was made.

What democracy, representative democracy, looks like was when the FL Legislature said "we're not going to debate any gun legislative matters right now". It sent the kids home with no new toys to play with.

If that was a conservative crowd they would be called a hate group.

That would never happen, though, because conservatives have jobs and can’t go scream at the sky for fun.

Or rather "this is what trying to pass laws due to emotion rather than reason looks like". Or maybe "This is what mob rule looks like".

That picture is more like an angry mob determined to crush and bully anyone that opposes their world view and is damn set on imposing it on everyone else.

The funny thing is, that isn't what democracy looks like. That's what a mob looks like. The other funny thing is, we aren't a fricking democracy.

These (costly) marches will do the same as the last two “women’s marches”... fizzle our into nothing except some sweet virtue signaling Instagram and Snapchat pics

Democracy is pretty much mob rule. Thank God we are a Constitutional Republic and sure do wish they would teach this in schools.

they already did, they were called the TEA Party and they were deem radicals, hate, racist and any other name the liberal media could name them to de-legitimize their movement...

That’s what the 1st amendment looks like.

Ironically, the 1st amendment is protected by the 2nd, which they are protesting.

Correct. IMO the 1st amendment is already gone. If you were to speak your mind in public and it got back to the corporation you were working for and they didn't like what you said, you'd be out of a job.

Wrong. The first amendment protects you from the government going after you. A private company always has the right to fire your arse for any reason not covered by race, religion, country of origin, disability, or age.
