Im not sure if the demo has changed since I graduated from school in Software Eng, but when i went thru there were MAYBE 5% women in any of my classes.
This is the point that those pushing "diversity" often overlook or dismiss. If the qualified applicant pool is 90% male and 10% female, then in order to influence the population within a company, you have either got to change the qualifications or aggressively recruit that 10%.

That's unjust. That's not a concept that drives this country or underlies our legal system. What you are talking about is the same as the blood libel the Nazis used to justify Holocausting the Jews for the perceived group sins of their ancestors. I can tell this is going to fly right over you head, but the opinion you hold is deeply fricked up.
I don't think it's the same at all. I have no problem, for example, with taxpayer money being used specifically on systems and platforms designed to promote education of a historically disenfranchised minority. I think it's an investment. It also has the bonus of being a form of general restitution.
It has to stop sooner or later though and I don't know where you draw that line. It shouldn't be to the detriment of another demographic either.
I suppose I just advocate for scholarship/educational opportunities based reparations and I'm less inclined to support affirmative action or forcing demographics in the work place as long as race and gender aren't being used to exclude people.

When you take from one and give it to another someone is going to be penalized for doing nothing wrong.

Just out of curiosity are you black?

Just like income based taxes used to maintain and improve infrastructure.
Is it a punishment if/when the investment pays off? Pay a dollar now and in the future your tax burden (because educated people earn more money and pay more in taxes) decreases and saves you $5?

White. I've just seen sexism and racism on display far too often to believe that the playing field is even close to equal.

It's been less than 100 years but close enough. So you're looking at what.. 3 generations.. is that enough time?
Women had the right to vote before the Constitutional Amendment. It happened in 11 states. They just couldn't vote for President.

Also, of course you don't know where to draw the line. Because for the left, it will NEVER end.
Blacks could become the majority in this nation with majorities in congress and they would STILL demand affirmative action.
It's the politics of revenge, pure and simple.

Make up your mind.

Equating a push to get more female employees in tech fields is the same as a push to also have them represented in prison populations, school dropout rates, and homelessness?
Yes because it's only being pushed because there's a perceived industry-wide discrimination. Women were not attracted to the tech field in any noticeable numbers until the internet started getting hot in the mid-to-late 90's (thanks in large part to AOL being the first large ISP to go from a per-hour charge to a flat, monthly rate for connectivity). Prior to that, seeing a female in a computer-related field was like seeing a Bigfoot riding a fricking unicorn. Not because they were being kept out but because they just weren't interested in the field.
We're only ~20 years out from that -barely a generation- but in that time I've noticed a frickton lot more women in the field (although still only ~25-30% of Comp Sci graduates are female). What the Left is trying to do (and what this guy is pointing out) is that they are trying to rush the natural process. It would be like showing up 20 years after the first settlers reached the Pacific Ocean and expecting to find cities with paved streets and a Starbucks on every corner.

A scholarship that exists where there would otherwise be none is not a detriment to the people who don't qualify for it.
