SWAT standoff with armed woman in car passes 30-hour mark in Fairfax County, VA

LINK #

A Hybla Valley standoff eclipsed the 30-hour mark Wednesday evening, as Fairfax County Police SWAT and crisis negotiators continue to try and speak with a woman they say is barricaded in a car with a gun.

Police said they want the incident to end, peacefully.

Police also confirm the woman has been provided food, water and cigarettes.

No, just NO! When one lone lunatic holds a police dept. hostage and creates nightmare situations for the entire area, NO! What utter waste of taxpayer money. But who has the balls to say 'enough is enough?!?!' And...cigarettes?

Fairfax? I’m guessing the woman in the car had spoken up at a school board meeting about a girl getting raped.

So why even bother? It's one woman, alone with a gun. Nobody else is involved. Just go home.

Actually seems like pretty good use of tax payer money.

What harm is she for being in the car? She’s contained, why not try to end it peacefully?

Any woman not driving makes the road infinitely safer.

Good job Fairfax.

IF you'll have a look at the photos, you'll note all of the resources present at the location where this dumbf--k is. Armored vehicles. Countless personnel. Large part of surrounding area closed off to traffic and commerce.

It's gone beyond reasonable. It's time to end it.

30 hours? I don't think I can stay awake that long. She must be on meth.

I would feed or something laced with a laxative and see how long she chooses to remain in the car.

I think they make the situation worse bringing in SWAT and armored vehicles. You don't need all of that for one woman.

All you need to do is go to her house and open every cabinet and leave all the toilet seats up.

They will feel a disturbance in the force

So to you... sitting in your car with a gun not actually doing anything is the same as murdering 6 people including 3 children while firing on police officers?

Some of you are absolute lunatics.

I used to live 10 minutes from this standoff...it is one of the major arteries in northern va for traffic (Rt 1).

People are so pissed that this has not ended...

This isn't a great compare-and-contrast. Two completely different threat assessments: inconveniences with troubled individuals versus a credible and immediate threat to others.

I'll take the 1-2 day inconvenience of a small region over feeding a narrative that a suicidal/mentally distraught individual needs to be exterminated. This is how the left feeds the idea that police support can be replaced with social workers. Sucks but this is what you get when you don't appropriately fund and resource the mental health infrastructure. A well contrived subduing through some kind of tranquilizer agent might sound good, but if the person is no threat, a longer wait for resolution might be the better idea, than the person getting anxious about the agent to subdue them, killing themselves, and then having the family sue the engaged parties for wrongful death.

Every bit of this.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison here. The trannie was already in the building firing rounds. Deescalation and negotiation are out of the window at that point the threat has to be neutralized. From what I have read this is a standoff where it appears a woman is alone with a gun in her car. There is still the ability to prevent loss of life (hers) through negotiation and deescaltion. A comparison to Uvalde or Broward would be correct where their cowardice cost lives.

Why don't they throw a flashbang in the backseat window and get her out.
