They could just as easily gone to a HBCU and gotten a scholarship if they were upset about white people accepting them and glorifying them as athletes.

As someone who has personally seen the athletic facilities at Grambling State University you would not want to go there unless you had no other options. HBCU colleges have trouble recruiting because their alums do not support the programs with money. Those colleges are on shoe string budgets.

LSU gets so much money from white supporters that the athletic dept donates some of it to the academic side.

Back when black players were not allowed to play for southern schools, liberals bitched about it (rightfully so).

Now that most southern football teams are overwhelmingly made up of black players liberals bitch about it.

Anybody else notice a pattern here???

You seem to think that playing football is mandatory and that whitey is making black people play football.

You are also insinuating that only white people care for the health of their children while black parents do not.

Your racism is disgusting, and your stupidity knows no bounds. I'm so glad people like you are losing every day.

Dude.

Genetics molded Fournette ,OBJ & every other ex LSU player in the NFL & not some marble mouth rube Head Coaches at LSU( or any other school).

Only delusional College Football fans think these players need any College or College Coach to be a high level athlete.

NBA & MLB fans already know this . No need to give you the long list of NBA & MLB players who do not need this College " molding"

I don't like Dabo Swinney and totally detest Nick Saban...

but the quiche-eating liberal writer is living in an alternate reality...

these young men are getting not only an opportunity for an education but connections that will open doors for them for the rest of their lives...

now let me throw out something else, how many children of ANY scholarship athlete do you think will attend college? I'd really be interested in seeing a study on that...

MLB is different. In basketball a few can go into the NBA from HS. A lot more can do 'one and done'. That doesn't happen with baseball. You're looking at 3 or 4 years in the minors riding the bus and staying in cheap hotels while playing before 800 fans.

I'd much rather play college baseball for 3 years at LSU in front of 4,000 fans with excellent coaching and then go AA for a year before being invited to MLB spring training for a shot at the big club.

Sure would. It's a life changing experience for many.

The pct who play in the NFL is minuscule. Most will do more with a degree than make the NFL. I'm sure some of those values are passed down

Correct. The NBA is a different story but still most players are projects coming from HS.

Few HS players drafted by MLB ever sniff the big leagues. Only a handful have gone fro HS straight to the majors

Grambling ( and other HCBUs) facilities have always been inferior & on a shoe string budget Zach.

Yet HCBU'S like Grambling, Jackson State, Morgan State,etc.....have more NFL Hall of Famers than any SEC school not named Alabama.

This despite not being able to recruit this calibre athlete at HCBUS in over 3 or 4 decades.

You're one of these people who believe Les Miles or Oregeron created Leonard Fournette,OBJ, Patrick Peterson, etc....?

Plus if all you do is letter in baseball 4 years at LSU, you will make enough contacts and make enough of a name for yourself in Baton Rouge (and to a lesser extent the rest of the state) that you will have all sorts of different prospects that the average nameless student won't.

This is several times greater if you're a 4 year football letterman.

Try to parlay something similar playing 3-4 yeas in BFE single A or AA ball without the LSU background.

Let the employer (NFL) work with them like the NBA/MLB minor Leagues because fat rubes like Oregeron cannot tell Leonard Fournette a GOTT Damn thing about running a Football.

NFL is complaining about how many prospects are unprepared coming into the NFL even after 3 years.

But the NFL wants this free marketing of young players who become household names in College & 2nd look at them against better competition as they develop a bit more.

But they don't need College. Period.

Have you ever played football? Being a running back is a lot more than running the ball.
