The UN and Obama's awful decision to turn our internet over to them last month

Is there any way President Trump can terminate this awful decision?

With all this what they deem "fake news" censorship and "alt-right" censorship on twitter, etc, I'm starting to believe what our joke of a President did last month may be one of the reasons this stuff is happening. I could be wrong, but it makes me wonder.

I hope he can reverse it. Only a matter of time before a fully censored common sense safe internet is presented.

Trump did release a statement back on September 21st opposing the decision: LINK

Ted Cruz was also staunchly opposed to it as well. He was the lead fighter against it and tried to fight it as hard as he could, but it seemed like nobody else was listening.

I just hope President Trump hasn't forgotten and does everything to reverse this terrible decision. It really does have me worried.

From CBS News, unless its "fake news" LINK

quote:

An office within the Commerce Department, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration?, still has limited oversight over the system of internet addresses?. But day-to-day management long ago was ceded to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, known as ICANN. It administers the directories that steer internet traffic to its destination.

Without it, buying items online, sending or receiving emails, browsing websites, sharing digital photos and watching movies online would be impossible.

Since its creation, ICANN? has quietly administered the internet’s address system without significant controversy. The premise for the transition has been to turn over such key functions to the private technical experts and businesses that helped build the internet, rather than governments. The diminished American role also has coincided since 2013 with heightened suspicions about the U.S. government’s designs on the internet, after Edward Snowden revealed that the National Security Agency had hacked into networks overseas used by U.S. corporate data centers.

Alternatives to ICANN’s role include turning over control to a U.N agency, the International Telecommunication Union, where countries with less regard for freedom of speech would have a greater say and the private groups have little influence. Also in play: the risk that foreign governments may develop their own private networks that might not function seamlessly with the internet.

I say appointment Ted as "Head of the Internet" and Supreme Court Justice. Could he double dip like that?

I've said it before here, but I anticipate the creation of an "open-source" or "rogue" internet that I usually call the cheesy name the Outernet.

As it stands today, it would not be too terribly hard to render ICANN's services mute by spinning up a shadow DNS system not controlled by ICANN.

Don't ever doubt the forces of liberty and freedom. They get their energy from the human spirit which, in the immortal words of Jeff Goldblum "life, uh, finds a way".

It says censorship is unlikely, but does anybody really trust anything officially coming from this government (especially from this corrupt admin)? I do not.

One of the memes I saw showed a picture of Nazis in one of their parade marching formations. Said White people chimping out.

Maybe we just tolerate it well until we go full tilt.

His brother, who went on a 7th grade field trip to the Tandy computer factory, says everything will be fine. Relax.

ICANN is a private company that does very technical work in an open sourced way for a while now. The Dept of Commerce oversight only serves to complicate things for the US and ICANN.
