When my glorious ancestors declared their freedom from the war criminal Abe Lincoln. God continue to bless my ancestor John C. Calhoun.

If it were not for the brave men who declared independence and fought what appeared to be an unwinable war against the British, your precious ancestor would have never had the opportunity to fight his war.
I'm sorry, but, considering everything we know as a country, including our beliefs, foundations, freedom, and democratic republic, is owed to a select few men with an incredible disposition for courage in face of insurmountable odds, the celebration of our independence is unequivocally worthy of greater celebration than a war that resulted in nothing more than the status quo accompanied with an end to slavery (with the cost of hundreds of thousands of American's lives). That's not to say abolition of slavery is no small thing, but compared to winning independence I'd argue it pales in comparison considering the USA would only a figment of someone's imagination if not for the bravery of those who declared and fought for independence.

Arky fan celebrates losing. A tradition as old as the USA itself.

It really doesn't matter what the end result was or how people feel about the confederacy and the USA, Abe Lincoln was a tyrannical war criminal that shat all over the american constitution and let his generals brutalize people that they grew up with just for the sake of brutalizing them.

And just to follow up, what the hell does July 4 have to do with the civil war? You are aware that the majority of Confederate States succeeded in December-February followed by a few more later in 1861, depending on the state (all prior to July, much less July 4 mind you).

They're like animals in the zoo don't show him too much of the outside world or he'll get scared and go ballistic.

This is such a bizarre interpretation of the Civil War that I don't even know how to respond.
