Should have been offered some way to cast his ballot. I know things may be different in your state, but there should be a way to guarantee that everyone has the right to cast a vote.

Do states cross check? I mean from your experience you could have voted in both states if no cross checking was taking place?

No. But people can. Whether you voted or not is public information in most states, if not all.

That's a lot of hoops for a 93 year old to jump through.

Gradulations. You're the first Dem I've ever heard complain about a man associated with the military having problems trying to vote. Normally you guys are mailing their absentee ballots too late, or trying to throw overseas votes out on technicalities like you did in FL 2000.

The 93 year olds here in FL haven't seemed to have an issue getting an ID in time. FL has required ID for some time.

Read the story. He can still vote with a provisional ballot.

Not only that, but the following from that link indicates things are going smoothly for almost everyone:

"As of Tuesday afternoon, the county clerk's office said fewer than 20 voters out of nearly 190,000 have not been able to provide an acceptable photo ID at the time of voting. A spokesman said more than half of those 20 had an expired Texas driver's license or an out-of-state license. "

Voting laws in this country are so fricked up and inconsistent and open to fraud it's ridiculous. We're like a fricking third world Banana Republic

Well in St Maarten they require you to register atleast 6 weeks before an election and show id and stamp your fingerprint on the ballot. They are ALL of African descent and do it just fine.

But yet here in the states that option is considered racist by a large number of its citizens.

Go figure.
