The left just ruins people…

Ok so I have let it be known on here a few times that I have a brother who is to the left of Bernie Sanders by a considerable bit. Let me tell you it is leftist propaganda 24/7 with him. He knows how I feel and my lack of desire to talk about politics around him because I have enough self awareness to know what the end result will be. He and I simply won’t agree on just about anything but yet he is always trying to interject politics into family get together and other events where it is simply unwelcome and uncalled for.
He has very little self awareness and doesn’t realize, when blowing up the conversation out of nowhere, even with strangers, that folks most of the time don’t want to talk politics and in particular his fringe leftist bullshite. Today for example I threw my elderly Dad a birthday party at our church. My brother comes in and immediately starts talking about how he recently had Covid and it didn’t affect him hardly and that’s because of his 5,431 vaccinations…yada. Basically nobody wanted to listen to that garbage. Then when that simmered down he was going on about the heat. I knew where it was going so for S’s and G’s I mentioned how we had some cooler and drier air coming in this week to which he said “It’s going to be even hotter next year!” Oh boy…
So I just couldn’t help myself at this point. I’m usually trying to tamp this talk down because it genuinely is sad to see how his trash leftist propaganda he listens to has warped his mind, but I pointed out to him about memories of 1980 when it was 104-108 for like 2 weeks straight or so. I mentioned that I recalled that as a 7 year old because it was so profound. I was hoping he would see that I was trolling him at that point but it went right over his head. So there we have it folks, just so you all know that from here out it will be warmer every year moving forward. No explanation of why the Hell we had the random heat I mentioned….from 43 friggin years ago, from here on out its nothing but up up and away with the temps.
Since this from earlier today, I have just been thinking about the miserable existence the left gleefully gifts its adherents. Why would anyone want to go around worried about that nonsense whether it be Covid or Climate Change or any of the scare tactics employed by the left and their media sycophants. It’s just unreal to me how eager leftists are to fear shite incessantly.
TL DR: Leftists are scared of their own shadow, spawn mental illness in their followers, and suck arse!

Sounds like when I visit my father, but from the other direction. Family, wife, kids and stepmom all having a meal together and my dad can’t help but constantly try to talk political bullshite he heard on tv, to the point where my kids have heard him drop several racial epithets, and yell about wishing death upon this or that politician.
Regardless of the aisle you sit on, I think most normal people are sick of the tribalism.

My mother in law is like this.
When I married my wife 20+ years ago, my mother in law couldn't tell you who the Vice President was. She started watching the View and has been brainwashed. She's absolutely miserable to talk to - especially on COVID and climate change.
My father in law and her do not believe in saving for the future, and they are at retirement age with nothing to show for it. What really scares me is how they would vote for someone left of Bernie if they promised to raise their SS check $50.

The fake Russia collusion story? The Steele Dossier hoax? That Covid was made in a lab in Wuhan, with a mortality rate far below 1% ?

Both sides have a ton of whackos. It seems to focus on worship or true hatred of Trump since 2015. I don't know which group is larger, but well over half our country is unhinged based on one guy.
This country has been tribal my entire life but it has gotten much worse in the last decade. People used to think the other side was stupid, now they believe anyone who disagrees with them is evil. Sad times.

I'd put Fox news on one TV, CNN on another.
Obvious Republicans, sitting in view of CNN TV would almost always, simply move.
Obvious Democrats in front of Fox news TV, would usually make a weird groaning type noise, or otherwise show their "disgust".
Just my experience.
Generally, liberals are much more in your face with politics.
Conservatives tend to be more accepting. Might disagree, but won't ruin relationships over it.
