I think it's a fair argument to point out that he finds time to tweet taunts to The NY Times but was silent on a highly-publicized hate crime.

No, he doesn't need to comment on every incident but I think this was a missed opportunity to set a tone of inclusion.

OP, how outraged were you with Obama when he had the lights at the WH turned purple when Prince over dosed on drugs, yet refused to have the same lights turned blue in honor of the 9 LEO's who were murdered while protecting Americans?

Did Trump light the WH up for the seal he got killed?

In the end, it's just the right thing to do. Trump has sway with white middle America. Middle America feels somewhat aggrieved, and that is contributing to tension in the country and potentially, violence.

I wish Obama had used his influence to calm tensions. Trump doesn't seem inclined to do so, either.

It's amazing how just since Trump has been elected, that hypocrisy by the president/his administration is now OK to call-out again.

I'd be more sympathetic if this wasn't the case

Were you infuriated when Obama basically said nothing when cops started getting killed in the BLM aftermath

Obama used his condemnation of the Dallas attacks to advocate for gun control and make a point about racial disparity in the justice system, all without "going there" by declining to talk about black on cop or black on white violence.

I'm not sure what Obama's motivation was. Narcissism? Endorsement of the movement that was beneath the violence (BLM, etc.)?

I think Trump is probably hesitant to speak out because creating tension has served him so well to date.

I think the tension has served Obama well and Trump well. Divide and conquer. It doesn't serve regular people well at all.

I have worked overseas 9 of the past 11 years, probably more globally travelled and expose than 90% of the posters here.

The GLOBAL community you want to be part of wanted the USA to continue in it's path, as US subsidises the WORLD with our tax money, while they don't work hard or pay their fair share for the "global" defense. Yet they complain about every thing in America.

When you move overseas, there are two type of expats, the ones who love their country and defend it, through ALL Presidents, and those who has the USA and conform to the globalist views.

I think you need to grow up. It's horrible those men were attack, I was referring about the propriety of a President weighing in on matters until they are investigated. There are innocent cops killed in Dallas & Baton Rouge due to the formed President's support of false statements from a criminal partner of a deceased man whom attacked a cop and got killed.

Trump mentioned this event during his speech to Congress. What else could he have done to raise awareness?
