Yeah Madison would be #2 behind Jefferson. It was Jefferson who influenced Madison in the decade leading up to the Constitution.

1. Jefferson
2. Madison
3. Franklin

Yea, if you like copious amounts of hops in your beer.I don't get it, it's like it their "secret recipe"...like putting a ton of salt on a NY Strip.

And for the umpteenth time to my question with no answer from anyone - then why am I voting at a Baptist church on election day?

Because using a church as a voting locale doesn't mix philosophy, theology, and practice. It's just using the easily identifiable facilities.

Well, I guess I'm just old and hardheaded because I equal elections with politics and church with religion. The next time I vote there I'm going to ask if any religious symbols in the building we vote in have to be removed before election. If yes, then we're on a real slippery slope here. If they don't have to be removed then I'd see where we are still on a slippery slope.

BTW, thanks for the input.

It's not like church officials are monitoring the election. You're literally just using the facilities. It's the same reason why religious groups can use public meeting rooms (like in public schools after class hours).

See your point. However, I'm still somewhat uneasy about the political signs displayed in the church parking lot when I pull up. They're about a hundred feet or so from the building but it just seems a little odd.

I don't know if he'd necessarily be considered a "Founder" but I would like to identify with Nathan Hale....except for the hanging part of course!

Same one, he had been rousing rabble for many years before the DOI in the Virginia House of Commons.

Dammit Zach. I was just about to say that I'm glad no one said John Adams.

Another reason is probably because in many areas, they are the best equipped to hold a large amount of people. Some towns may not have a big gymnasium or auditorium or anything.

Yep. We outgrew our voluntary fire dept. location. I don't have a problem with it but when people raise hell about having the ten commandments on govt. property, what is the difference. Like I said before, people with political signs on private religious property just seems a very gray area to me.
