So because Greenwald opposes perpetual war, the death that accompanies it and the largest surveillance and spying apparatus in world history he is anti-American? Boy you sure have bought into the fearmongering.

But it doesn't matter because we wrecked Iraq and let those forces loose.

I thought it was the Russians.

There was a problem with the number of claimed deaths at the time. People went and looked locally and there didn't seem to be that many death certs, graves, or twons wiped out of that number of people...hospitals didn't show a correlating number either. A horrible number of deaths? Yes...as in all wars, but, as in all wars, the propaganda machines are out in full force.

This is a picture of Jews seeing U.S. Troops for the first time near Magdeburg Germany in 1945.

Seeing British troops in Italy.

On Okinawa.

That is not us any more.

Because of the Dark State.

Supporting the Dark State can pay well too.

There is a reason why we have ZERO credibility when it comes to lecturing other countries about military aggression, development of nuclear weapons, human rights and civil liberties. We don't follow our own ideals and flagrantly violate international laws and norms when it suits us.

You do realize that Trump's SOS nominee, Rex Tillerson, said just yesterday that appropriate action for the Russian's taking over Crimea was to move all of Ukraine's military assets to the Russian border and fortify them with American military supplies and equipment as needed. He also said that China needs to quit building the man-made islands and that their access to those islands needs to be stopped. This doesn't really sound like a new beginning to me. Tillerson and Trump need to get on the same page.

Early in the war a man came to President Lincoln’s office and told him that SecWar Stanton would not accede to Lincoln’s request on behalf of this person and that further, the president was a damn fool.

“Mr. Stanton called me a damn fool?”

“Yes Sir he did!”

“Well, I better step over and see him," Lincoln said. “He is usually right.”

What a couple more bullets or bombs in the big picture?

Well if that bullet or bomb kills my family and destroys generational wealth, I'll make sure someone feels tye consequences of that action. You have dehumanized these people to the extent that you aren't able to logically approach the problem. You are not alone in that, which is a huge foreign policy hang up for the USG.

Also, you need to Stop being naive. Commanders control what is done inside their commands. End of story. If they fail to do so, consequences should be real.

Soldiers control their own actions. if they fail to do so, consequences should be real.

Policy makers control military intervention. If those interventions kill women and children while making the country less secure from irregular threats, such as terrorism, they should face real consequences.

The Intercept is doing the lord's work. applaud them and stop pretending like these incidents don't have meaningful consequences for our military and diplomats across the world as well as Americans at home

I think it will. virtually anyone trump appoints will be better than the clapper/comey/brennan combo.

A liar, a partisan, and a commie. what a fricking joke.

I finally got around to reading the article. While I don't always agree with Greenwald, he nailed it in this article
