I don't watch tDS, but have seen the commercials while watching Tosh.

In which ways are they making fun of Alabamians (all southerners ultimately)?

They have poor ratings in Alabama and want to explore why that is while doing comedic journalism. I do not expect it to be flattering at all.

Because making fun of white people in the South is always a safe bet. No chance of a backlash from your primary audience.

They spent a few days in Montgomery from what I've seen and read, so they're poking fun at our government. Certainly a LOT to poke fun at there.

I saw the segment they did on religion in Alabama. They did a showcase on the church signs and interviewed one Pastor because his sign said mean things about Trump. Things got uncomfortable for the correspondent when the Pastor shared his feelings on gay marriage. It wasn't really very funny, but there were a few chuckle moments.

They could do a full month on our fricking corrupt politicians and the people that voted for them.

That expose would also uncover shenanigans with the dems, so they wouldn't want that.

Yeah I agree. I watch it sometimes, but only because @Midnight comes on right after and I like Chris Hardwick and his comedian panel concept. It's funny. John Oliver is great. The Colbert Report was great. No one else really does a good job on the political comedy talk show genre.

His stand up is actually decent which makes it all the more puzzling that he's so horrible on the DS. Has to be one of the worst hires in TV history. Comedy Central needs to cut their losses and get an American comic that understands the nuances of US politics.

They need to throw a shite load of money at Dave Chappelle to get him to come back.

They're here all week. It's not like there is a shortage of material to work with.

Hell they could spend several days on the Auburn Football program alone. Loads of comedy gold there!

Stepehen Fry at the Iron Bowl (2007, I'm pretty sure). He is absolutely floored by the enthusiasm, and the anthem+flyover gets him a little teary.
