I can't believe no one is talking about it in the news, but every class 1 railroad is planning to go on strike at midnight on Thursday. If you think supply chain constrains were bad now, imagine where we will be this time next week when no trains are running.

If they form picketlines, the ILA and the Teamsters will respect those lines and you will see trucking and ports shutdown as well.

If you don’t talk about the problem, it doesn’t exist.

Aren't they not allowed to strike? There was a thread about this and people were saying the federal government would order them back to work immediately.

I know the White House has been trying to broker a deal, but the Union wants like 30% pay raises for everyone.

Could be a lose / lose for Biden on this one.

I am sure our transportation secretary is all over this train issue and there is absolutely nothing to worry about... Our benevolent overlords always have our best interests at heart...

I hate government worker unions. The tax payers does not get fair representation.

I encourage private company unions. Especially unions that fight back against corporations who do the government's bidding.

How does it play for the midterms that the union friendly Democrats force the unions back to work during a strike?

Forcing people to work seems kind of old fashioned.

The turmoil in general is not good for the incumbent party.

I don't think the nation could handle more than a week or two of this strike. I don't think the average American understands how much of their daily lives would be effected by rail not running.

I know it’s early out here and I don’t have my contacts in and haven’t had any coffee. But that does say 30% right?

ETA: contacts are in, coffee is brewing and it still says 30%. Frick.

I do wonder if this is all coordinated so that Gay Pete can come in and save the day. We know the Dems are eager to raise his profile.
