The Attack on Trump Is Exactly What a Russian Disinformation Campaign Looks Like

Holman Jenkins, writing in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, notes that Putin found a unique vulnerability in the hyper-partisanship of contemporary American politics, which makes devotees on either side more willing to believe the worst about the other. Partisans on both sides might share a conspiratorial mindset when relegated to opposition status, but only the Democrats can harness the alchemy of the mainstream media to “normalize” fringe theories.

in the “Democrat-media” complex, Putin has found a particularly potent weapon, aimed directly at the president. One could not imagine a better way to create havoc for an adversary — and the left is playing into the enemy’s hands, eagerly and mindlessly, forgetting its own slavish enthusiasm for Russia for nearly a century.

I demand royalties from this guy. I have been saying for weeks this whole "Trump colluded with Russia" was a fake story planted by the Russians themselves. Their goal was to simply sew chaos into our election and not necessarily back one candidate over the other.
I really do believe that the NSA/CIA guys are telling the truth when they claim they intercepted Russian officials talking among themselves about "owning Flynn and Trump." However, I contend that the Russians KNEW the NSA was listening and they KNEW it would be leaked to the press and start a shite storm over here. The Russians are using the DNC as their useful idiots to push their narrative, just as they have done for 70 years.
So, yes, it's possible for the Democrats to really BELIEVE this Russian nonsense without making the story up themselves. In other words, both the "muh Russians" as well as the press pushing a fake narrative can be true at the same time:
1) Russia really did interfere in our election by feeding NSA and CIA fake intelligence by having conversations on open non-secured phone lines.
2) The media and DNC are pushing the Russian narrative believing Trump somehow "colluded" with them. The media's intel sources are legit and really did hear what they claim they heard on wire intercepts. Since it is coming from CIA and NSA sources, the media really believe it and thinks it happened.
Think about it, why would the Russians want everyone to know about their secret deal with Trump? If it was so critical and nefarious, they sure did a shitty job at hiding it. The truth is they weren't TRYING to hide it because they WANT America to believe it's true.
I am surprised NSA didn't understand this a long time ago (I suspect they did, actually, but were silenced by their superiors who are all Obama people that found it convenient to hurt Trump).

No, he is saying the idiots in the press are doing Putin's bidding.
It would cost Russia's millions, maybe billions to set up what the press is doing for free.

As a Democrat, I don't think I've ever agreed with you on this board, but that was a very well written post.

Offices of Yandex Search Engine raided in Ukraine

Ukraine's intelligence agency is searching the offices of Yandex, a Russia-based Internet company best known for its search engine.
Ukrainian authorities earlier this month blocked access to Yandex as well as to several major Russian social media websites. President Petro Poroshenko said the move was made in response to Russia's annexation of the Crimean peninsula and continuing interference in eastern Ukraine.
Olena Gitlyanska, spokeswoman for Ukrainian intelligence agency SBU, said Monday that Yandex's offices in Kiev and Odessa were searched as part of an investigation on treason charges. It was not immediately clear what the charges were related to.
