If we swallow this we are total losers. Our former dumbass governor cut taxes for wealthy businessmen, so now the middles class is being asked to shoulder the burden. Any legislator who votes to approve this needs to be voted out of office. This is ridiculous.

Does Louisiana divert your gas tax for other purposes? For instance, the Texas Legislature diverts gas tax money to pay for Medicaid.

Yea it's scary to imagine that there are people out there dumb enough to support this. Seriously, how many times does one have to be lied to by our corrupt politicians before they finally see through the charade from our politicians?

please man, trust me it's better for louisiana to pay more for gas. I'm behind on my f250 payment and the River Ranch HOA is threatening to fine us if I don't find a storage place for my jet skis but the money is just not there. If oil was back at $80 a barrel the whole state would be better off

Supposedly this one would be set aside strictly for the roads and bridges but who would trust our politicians at this point? They've lied so many times about this tax fund and that tax fund being "untouchable" but they always curiously seem to get raided down the road. Nothing but corrupt crooks and swindlers.

Remember, all of the money from the lottery was going to education. Right.

Is your house in River Ranch sinking yet?

Are you throwing breakers every time you microwave something?

I just heard about how shitty River Ranch is despite the stupid high cost of houses.

BTW I noticed the thick layer of sarcasm in your post.

There is a portion that can be legally diverted for highway patrol (State Police).

That practice stopped last year but it is still possible.

However, the bill to raise the gas tax is tied to a constitutional amendment to prevent this from every happening again.

Those four republicans who just voted to raise the gas tax today in committee needs to be primaried and put down next time they are on the ballot.

Julie Stokes

Paula Davis

Clay Schexnayder

Barry Ivey

frick them all.

JBE wants the gas tax so he can get more money to hang over the legislature's head and he would have that money because it wold go straight to the DOTD which he has control over. He's been complaining about not getting enough pork to barter legislators with and if the republicans in the statehouse cave to him, then they deserve to lose reelection by a landslide.
