someone that has different beliefs than you is a nut job, got it. It's weird because even though your beliefs are different than mine I wouldn't call you a nut job, I'd just say you have put your faith in something different than I have.

So offering differing points of view is bad for education?
When one is a scientific theory proven constantly over nearly 200 years, and the other is religious hogwash? Absolutely.

Fine, let their schools suffer and their educational reputation suffer, it will mean business won't relocated to Texas.
Given how far Texas schools would have to decline to equal the level considered acceptable by other states, loss of business would be many decades away if ever.

Texas education board approves curriculum that challenges evolution by CommoDawg
I never understood how evolutions and/or dinosaurs threatens Christian theology. Did it ever occur to people that God created things to adapt and evolve over time? Students are wise enough to understand that Darwin's theory was from an earlier scientific era that was partially correct, but still far-fetched in its entirety.
Darwin's theory is only a threat to Theism when it is interpreted as an absolute factual belief system, which it obviously isn't. It is just an early philosophy that laid the foundation, although it was never absolute to begin with. Hopefully the approved curriculum that challenges evolution in Texas' schools will only challenge the Theory in certain regards, not in its entirety.

I never understood how evolutions and/or dinosaurs threatens Christian theology.
quote:You obviously disagree with "experts"?
The board dropped language that asked biology students to consider "all sides" of scientific theory. Experts said that let religious ideology trump science and might have left students believing God created life.

Yup. This thread went exactly how I thought it would.
Congrats.
Congrats.

Evolution is theory. Don't give me the this wolf to dog crap. That's not evolution it's still a canine and bread by humans. It's time evolution quit being taught as an exact science when the theory cannot even be adequately tested nor proven. Teach both and allow students to make up their mind.

Evolution is theory
quote:What do you want it can't be adequately tested? It's arguably the most well studies theory, across many unique disciplines with unique methods of inquiry, and none of them have falsified theory.
the theory cannot even be adequately tested nor proven.
quote:Well what a false equivalence. Let's teach an alternative to gravity since it's a theory, and let them decide.
Teach both and allow students to make up their mind.

quote:And there is the conundrum. If atheist experts fear religious ideology could trump science, and might leave students believing God created life, they'll never reach folks like 'labamafan' with the actual science. Nor frankly should they.
Well what a false equivalence
It really is not difficult. Allow for faith where there is room. Atheist or theist, as long as it does not interfere with known science, it's really not a big deal. Even allow for a "God of the gaps" premise as long as relative rarity of gaps in ET is emphasized. Those small concessions wouldn't affect the science one iota, Yet they would unlock the material for many otherwise closed minds.

Where you should be living is in a padded cell in a straight jacket. You're severely mentally deranged and probably rabid as well. You freaks are truly sick!!
