Given the nature of powerful greedy motherfrickers, I just can't buy that this is just one great big coincidence.

What's concerning to me is the number of otherwise-sane individuals committing horrible acts of violence against others in our society in the name of a particular religion.
Terrorists don't kill anywhere near the number of people that cancer or heart disease does, but why should we be comparing death statistics when there is a real problem with Islam-related murder?

No, you miss the point dummy. Increase the number of Middle East Muslims in this country and the number of murders committed by Muslims here would increase exponentially.
A large portion of those murderers would be duh MUSLIMS because to those in the ME, Muslim Americans are just as big of infidels as non Muslim Americans. Certainly there are some peaceful Muslims who just want to live their free lives in this country, but those who are living in the Middle East now do not want to, and will not comport to our society. This has been PROVEN by recent events in Europe.

This isn't about Islam, this is about protecting our own citizens. Let me use another example. Why do you think China has sent troops to the North Korean border? The answer is because China knows that if the worst happened they don't want 2 million North Koreans fleeing into China and fricking up their society, because the North Koreans are ill equipped to handle living in a modern society.

Studies like this are good to remind us that we really don't need to be paranoid over Muslims we meet in our daily lives. I believe that as a matter of personal anecdotal evidence and data.
However, I note that the study is playing games in at least one respect. Note that it's only counting "terrorist" murders by Muslim Americans. What about non-terrorist murders? The article suggests not only that terrorism is rare but also that Muslims are unlikely criminals. That's fine but if you're suggesting the latter, then you can't restrict the murders to those conducted in terrorist acts.
Also, the article, like so many, misses a big point. It is simply a fact that relatively small but still significant numbers of radical Islamists want to commit acts of terrorism on a grand scale. We have avoided 9/11-scale attacks due to vigilance, not because the radicals quit wanting to strike. This is where liberals lose a great many Americans. The terrorists come right out and tell us that they want to kill us and then many on the left choose to act as if the threat of such action isn't real.
