Cruz strikes me as the right-wing Obama. An obviously incredibly smart dude who aced Harvard Law* and got into politics within four years, and then immediately learned that when you get in front of a crowd, you need to gear down your brain a lot. Since it's an artifice, they tend to lay it on a little thick, and this gets especially obvious when the audience is actually somewhat educated or experienced in the arena where they're trying to condescend. (It's also why listening to them is like nails on a chalkboard to anyone above the 75th percentile.)
They're also both incredibly egotistical even on a curve for politicians, which is how he can see people booing his simple-arse pandering and translate that as anti-Semitism. Obviously nobody could just dislike him, he's Ted Cruz.
*Spare me any invocations of AA. You might get into Harvard on AA, but you don't get Law Review and magna cum laude, which both of them did, on AA.

I'm always surprised at how many people think he's a genius. He may be book smart, but he's incredibly tone deaf if he has genuine aspirations of breaking into national politics.

You have to keep in mind that his preacher-daddy is an evangelical hack who always mixes politics with religion.

Yep, Cruz is a very tame version of his Dad.

I don't think Obama was anywhere near as polarizing as Cruz is after his first two years in the Senate, and he certainly wasn't throwing red meat to the base like Cruz regularly does these days.

Cruz is only paralleled by Steve King. Both likely repressed homosexuals.

No, I'm saying an apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Cruz is the closest thing to the new coming of Ronald Reagan. He's extremely intelligent and a destructive debater (he doesn't need a teleprompter like Obama).

This is probably the best summation of Cruz that I have seen.
I liked him for a while when he was playing Rand's sidekick. Not so much anymore.

So he supports Israel, to the complete disgust to Ziegtrackfan, but he wants to convert all Jews to Christianity?

So how does Cruz square this with his Jewish friends? Aren't they going to hell with all the other non-believers?
The way I interpret this is Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddist, and all of us heathens will be headed in the same direction - hell.

I guess I was too brief. What is JDP? Is that an Islamic political organization that you're a fan of? What was the point of your earlier post?

Erdogan's party, right? I would also put them on the opposite end of the spectrum from ISIS.

I've never understood why Israel firsters are so rampant in the gov't of a 1st world country like us. Japan is one as well and they don't bow to them or give away funding like its candy, maybe Japan being by and largely agnostic has something to do with it?
